While perusing Google Books, I found out that many good books on evolution, even very recent ones, are "fully viewable" on the Google Books website in PDF. And a number are even downloadable in PDF format. When you arrive at the Google Books website, navigate to the search bar in the top-right hand corner. Just below it will be a link: "advanced search", click it. There will be an option, the third one down I believe, where you can filter books by copyright status. The last option on this line will be "fully viewable"; click this. Then you can simpy type in one or a few key words to do with evolution (or any other topic that takes your fancy for that matter!) and view only books that you can at least read the whole thing online (if you have a Google account you can save books to read for later, a very handy feature), or possibly even dowload. If they are downloadable, there will be a special icon in the top-right just above the PDF format book. a database of species which have become extinct within the last 100,000 years.
