South Haven Community Park Monarch Waystations forum: Progress note #1

|A good turnout. 11 of us showed up. I had emails from a couple neighbors who couldn't make it but wanted to participate and plant milkweeds. Many residents are thinking of doing a way station in their own yards and helping do the community way station. We plan to have a work day on Sunday May 15th at 1pm when we will plant the milkweed plugs and the variety of nectar plant plugs. Anyone/ everyone can join in- the more the merrier. People volunteered to look into the mulch, dirt, wood needed. Julie G. suggested a raised bed or a barrier so the lawn cutter doesn't mow the garden. All readily agreed.
Hope to see you there. Bring your own shovel! :)
|Thanks for getting this going Julia!
No wonder the Monarch migrators made your community a regular stop over site on their long journey back to Mexico for the winter: such good people you folks are! And I am so pleased to be a part of really rolling out the Welcome Mat for them with loads of host Milkweed plants and rich nectar for their journey!
Here are links to Veterans Compost that I mentioned as a source for 'dirt'! If your community gets stuff from them, I'd like to get some to use, too. Maybe others are also interested?
Plant It and They Will Come!!
