Here is some dirt info:
We can get topsoil or a mixture of topsoil/leaf fro

Would the person who mentioned the veterans
Organization please email me with more specific
Info so we can contact them.

1.5 tons of topsoil/leafgro for $120 delivered.
If we can pick up it will be less. We can get topsoil
Delivered for $50 per cu yard. That would be in a
Pickup that can access the grounds.

Does someone have a pickup or trailer that could
pick up dirt? Please let me know. We can keep the cost
considerably less if we can pick up.
I'd like to get some of the compost from the veterans
Group if we can.

Plant It and They Will Come
Julie,
Here is the link to Veteran Compost
http://www.veterancompost.com/

I'd like to support them and use their products, too. There pick up site is in Aberdeen? Sorry, I'm not set up to haul dirt in bulk.

I will add that most of the plants I am supplying do not require super fertile soil like a veggie garden might ...they are tough natives that would willingly grow along our roadsides, fields and woodsedges if that were still available to them . So some bags of Veteran compost, worm castings or Squaredoot Gardening Mix mixed with existing 'soil' would work. (We don't have to raise the bed as high as the boards or timbers we use as their function is to keep mowers out.) I like the Veteran stuff as it minimizes any chemical or yard waste residues that might be taken up by the plants and ultimately harm the Monarchs or other pollinators drawn to the Community Park Way Stations.

Just my thoughts ...

Hi Judy

Thanks for the info on the veterans compost. I see they have a pick up location in Severna Park. That's not too far. I think we just need to add some soil lightener to the existing dirt to make it habitable. I agree we don't need to raise the bed as high as the timbers. The veterans website doesn't mention cost so I don't know what it is.
I'll check on it tomorrow.
We can probably go to SP and get some.

Julie
