This recipe soo reminds me of how Howard Johnson's clam strips tasted. Give it a whirl! Tendersweet Fried Clams ![]() 1 lb fresh deep sea clams, cleaned and cut into strips. 1/2 cp finely ground no salt crackers 1/2 tsp crushed fresh parsley 1/2 tsp dried basil dash of sea salt 1/2 can of evaporated milk After you've cut the clams into strips, place them in a bowl of ice water and chill them for an hour .Then remove them from the water and dry well on paper towels. Now dip them in a bowl filled with the evaporated milk. Let them sit in the milk for about 5 minutes. Toss the remaining ingredients together in another bowl, and dip each clam strip into the bread crumb mixture. Deep-fry in canola oil that has been preheated to 350 degrees. They should be thoroughly cooked in about 1 1/2 minutes. Serve immediately with lemon slices and tartar sauce.. |
