This was my favorite meal made by my mother, so I thought I'd share it with you. She used white rice instead of egg noodles, and thinly cut pan seared beef strips instead of cubed beef. I hope you try :)

Beef Stroganoff
Thumb of 2010-11-14/Lynxx/da497a
1 boneless beef sirloin steak OR beef top round steak, 3/4-inch thick, cut into 2-inch
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp Marjoram (I love this spice, so I use more)
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 Bay leaf
1/4 tsp Oregano
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped (about 1/2 cup)
1 garlic clove, pressed with knife and crushed
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Cream of Mushroom
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup dry sherry or dark red wine
1 tbsp tomato paste
1/2 cup sour cream
Hot cooked egg noodles or hot cooked white rice
Chopped fresh parsley

Partially freeze the Beef. Remove and using large knife, slice into very thin strips.
(Partially freezing the meat allows you to create thinner strips) Now rub the black
pepper into the strips.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips, bay leaf, and
mushrooms and cook until well browned, stirring often. Remove the beef from the
skillet. Pour off any fat. Keep the bay leaf with the meat.
Reduce the heat to medium. Add the onion, onion powder, and garlic and cook until
Stir in the soup, water, sherry, and tomato paste and heat to a boil. Return the beef
to the skillet and cook until the beef is cooked through. Stir in marjoram, oregano.
Remove the skillet from the heat. Remove bay leaf. Stir in the sour cream. Serve the
beef mixture over noodles or rice and sprinkle with parsley.
