This rice is really good. It tastes better than those fancy rice mixes you buy in the supermarket for close to 2.00 a box. And mine only costs about .65 cents to serve three people! Lynxx's Yumm Yumm Rice ![]() Ingredients *1 cup Orzo-Rice mix 2 cups water 2 tablespoons Knorrs brand vegetable soup mix (dry) salt and pepper to taste canola oil In a medium sized skillet, pour about 2 teaspoons of canola oil in. Let the pan get very hot, almost to smoke. Dump the orzo-rice mix in all at once. Stir and allow it to begin to brown, then stir. This process takes about 3 or 4 minutes, depending upon how toasty you want the rice and orzo. Then add all of the water, and the Knorr soup mix. stir and cover, Lower heat to simmer. Simmer about 10 minutes. Turn off the burner and allow the rice to continue to take in the warm water, stirring every 10 minutes until it's done. (about 20 to 25 minutes) Now fluff it with a fork. Can be made ahead, frozen in baggies for later use, or stored in refrigerator for two days. Reheat in microwave on high for 2 to 3 minutes in a microwaveable bowl (covered) if serving later. *http://cubits.org/ThriftyKitchenCooks/thread/view/40528/ Orzo-Rice Mix |
