This recipe is from a 'Southern Living 1982 annual' my mother gave me before she left me. It is delicious with your traditional turkey at Thanksgiving, or anytime for that matter.

Texas style cornbread stuffing
Thumb of 2010-10-31/Lynxx/610d6e

10 (2 inch) cornbread muffins, crumbled
*6 slices white homemade bread, crumbled
5 cups chicken or turkey broth
1 red bell pepper, chopped
2 medium onions, chopped
4 stalks celery, chopped
3 tbsp butter or margarine
1/2 lbs. mild pork sausage
2 eggs, beaten
salt and pepper to taste

Soak cornbread and white bread in chicken broth in large bowl for 10 minutes. Stir it until the liquid is absorbed. Meanwhile, saute the onion, red pepper and celery in butter until the vegetables are tender. Add the sausage and cook over low heat until the sausage is cooked through. Drain. Add the sausage mixture to the bread mixture, along with the eggs and salt and pepper. Mix well. Spoon dressing into a greased 13 x 9 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until lightly browned.
