![]() I was going through my picture files to put together pictures of my herb garden and I found these pictures of a 'Happy Generation' Triumph tulip from 2009. Notice how this particular bloom has a gold streak in it ![]() Inside the bloom ![]() And then in 2010 there was more gold. Just from the offspring from this one bulb. Very interesting. I wonder what it will look like this year. ![]() What do you think is happening with this bulb C? |

Thank you Dalhianut to bring up the subject. As you probably know when tulips get strange streaks is it the sign of virus infection. In my humble opinion I dont think yours is infected. Colors are changing on tulips from the bud to the flower, you probably noticed that. For instance Tulipa Angélique is white when opening is getting pink when aging and back to white when fading. The very famous Rembrandt tulips where just tulips having viruses, now the ones sold are virus free. We are comparing to compare your 'Happy generation' to mine, I will put pics next to another so you will be able to compare. In the case you think your tulip has got virus streaks the best thing to do is to get rid of it preferably burning it not to let the virus infect the healthy tulips around. C. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Dalhianut Your tulip is on the left, mine on the right. If you have a close look to both of them you will see on mine also yellow 'streaks'. Depends when you took this picture. If this one bloom this year please let me have a picture and I think I will be able to tell you if this tulip is having a virus or not. C. Here is another post of the 'Happy Generation' tulip from 2009. I don't think it's a virus C. I find that sometimes one particular bulb will produce offspring that aren't quite true. ![]() |

Thank you Dalhianut. You are right, some blooms are sometimes different. I noticed it also. Great. Better than a virus! C.
