Tulipa planting

Once you have received your bulbs you have to find the right place to plant them, besides the usual question of size, you must choose a sunny and well drained spot, raised beds are very good sites - and after makig up your mind about this you must keep a mapping to remember where your tulips are and to be able to recognise and know which ones are where. I try to keep a double data : a paper one with mapping and pics. Here I put the little paper bags each time I was putting one in the ground

Do you use plant stakes with names on the Catherine?
Oct 16, 2011 1:04 AM CST
I did find any lasting. Now I leave the ones on irises when I get some with good tags but in fact I do not like much having white or yellow tags everywhere in the garden. I prefer to put a grreen stick, or a stone, or have a way to know where plants are to find them back.

Most of you are cleaning their garden now. Cleaning meaning weeding, digging and it is what I am doing too. Yesterday as I was celaning a bed without any plant, just digging and weeding I pull out some tulips bulbs I did not notice during last spring when I took all them out of this bed. The problem is,that when bulbs are staying in ground they are growing back much faster and start to grow roots since the very beginning of September.
Just to show you and tell you that if you are not sure there are still tulip bulbs somewhere in your beds, it is better to clean only the top of the ground wihtout digging.

I hope I did this right for you Catherine. I am so excited to see these bloom next spring. : )

Hello Lynn. Glad to see you back. Nice little bulbs. I am happy to see those. Your Narcissus bulbs seem to be skinny: Hope you will share plenty of pictures next spring. Have to look up for your Narcissus Baby moon. A nice name. Guess it is a small one.
Thank you for this beautiful post Lynn.

That's what I was looking for (English)... *Blush* can't seem to find it. Do they ship overseas?
Nov 12, 2011 1:43 PM CST
They should next year Chelle. Here the season is over for orderning and they ran out of stock for the ones very difficult to fiind.
The commercial website is not translated into English Chelle, just the site about wild tulips where you will discover the species. Some I dont have...

Hurray! Hi Chelle. Next spring is going to be so much fun with all of us posting photos of your new blooms.
I am so slow at moving and planting, I still have some of mine that need to get into the ground. I should be able to get some planted in the next few days in between the rain fall.
