I'm cheap. No two ways about it. I'll admit it in a heartbeat.
I hate spending money on frivolous things like curtains and am more apt to take a king size sheet and make my own.
I've done this in most of the rooms in my house. Whenever I change my comforter, I'll try to find a sheet that coordinated, or a remnant of fabric at the fabric store and whip up some curtains. They are so easy to sew. Just a few straight seams and you've got curtains.

The first room I posted is my room. The lavender curtains let in too much light at night from the street light. So when one of our Joann's stores was moving locations, they had extraordinary discounts on their fabrics. I picked up some fabric that is quite thick and made these curtains. In hindsight, I should have made them longer, but the fabric was only so wide and I only bought so much. The embellishment on the edge was also purchased at the same time.
When The World Market was closing down, I bought the bamboo window shade. Between the window shade and closing the curtains at night, it's pitch black in the room and I can go to sleep in no time at all.
The big red pillows with the dragons on them were also made by me. I used a fur trim around them to decorate them a bit.

Looking back through this thread I was reminded of something.
Connie and I were in Houston when I found the sheet to make the curtains in the 2nd room. Threre was only one sheet and it was a Queen Size. I was able to get curtains for 2 windows from that one sheet.
About 2 weeks AFTER I made the curtains, I found ANOTHER sheet and one pillow case that MATCHED those "curtains", also in a Queen Size. The cool thing is that the bed in that room is a queen size. So now I use a solid fitted sheet on the bed and the flat sheet to match and the room is coordinated!
