From giant vegetables, to a moose in the backyard, to majestic mountains and Aurora Borealis....living in Alaska is an adventure! And this week's Spotlight is on someone who has lived there for over 30 years. Come along and meet Jackie...
Jackie...I love your state, your area. I've never seen such majesty and beauty all around as when I was there. You are truly fortunate to live there, tough though your winters may be.
It's great to get to know you better, too.
Thanks, Nap, for a very nice article about a truly lovely lady.
Thank you Nancy for a wonderful article. Beautiful pictures in the article, too.
So very nice to get to know you, Jackie. I've had the pleasure of travelling to Alaska as a child. I found it gorgeous to the extreme. Your interest in your fathers service in the war, and the people that served with him is heartwarming. I'm sure your father would have been very proud of you for doing that.
Wow, hi kaglic!
What an interesting story and life. I loved the article, well done. Your glass work is beautiful, I will be checking out those web sites.

I really enjoyed reading about your state Jackie. Alaska is like a whole 'nother world in my mind.
I also appreciate that you've been learning more about your Dad's military service. I've got a box of my Dad's military commendations here and I've been scanning them so I can write a special book about him. So many of our fathers served our great country. We can never forget the sacrifices they made for us all.
Your glass artwork is awesome. You really capture the beauty of the glass. I've already told you that you're welcome to post anything in the Artisan's Nook and include a link to your Etsy website too.
Thanks Nancy for shining the spotlight on this very special lady. Great Reading and awesome photos!
Thanks, all. I found Jackie's life to be even more interesting than I had expected. The things we find fascinating are the things she must take for granted.
I had the pleasure of meeting Jackie and hubby, Frank last year. I live about three hours south of them, and when they traveled to Seward last summer in their R/V, she brought me one of her glass ornaments to hang in my sister's garden. We had a very pleasant visit. How nice to meet people you've only chatted with on-line, face to face. What a lovely and gracious couple.
What a wonderful sense of adventure I read into this interview. It seems every day brings something truly new to you. It's is wonderful "meeting" you and I look forward to seeing more of your work....
Hi Nancy......Nice to meet you. Come join us on Cubit 'Carpe diem', on the US Alaska forum and see Jackie's thread about her area; Palmer, Alaska - Agricultural "Pioneers" and mine; Welcome to the Kenai Peninsula. Another forum there, Iceland - Land of Fire and Ice, has some very interesting posts by Rann. She not only shows us her beautiful Iceland, but keeps us updated on their current volcanic eruption which has had world travel all bound up recently.

I really appreciate your comments-may I add, that as of right now, it's 6:30am, the sunlight is highlighting the mt. peak as I stand here, at the kitchen window, writing and loving the view.
There are changes coming to DPics soon-perhaps take a look.
