Artists work in many media. Some paint pictures, throw pots, carve wood, write music, take photos, wield torches and some create wonderful images with stitches. I found this artist quite by accident when she very humbly asked if she could post photos of her needlework on the Sewing Cubit. Come with me and I'll introduce her to you!

I love the colors of the poppies and the different shades of green as well. Eileen's workmanship is awesome!

NANCY, Sarah, Neil's wife loves poppies and I have done a picture and a cushion with poppies on the for her. In a garden near me I recently saw white poppies and I think I will have to try and design something with them on, So glad you like the picture Neil chose the frame, he has such an eye for colours and contrasts.
I do hope you enjoy these as much as I have making them.
Eileen.

I wonder how you would do a white flower. On a white background? Different color background? Outline the flower in an off shade?

Darker background, maybe.

How about against other dark green plants, that are in flower as well, Then keep the poppies a light green with their flowers to contrast the foliage of the other plants.
Regards.
Neil.

I can picture that. I would like that. But we know Eileen is the master mind who will find just the right design.

Sharon was sure your mother and her needlework would make an interesting article, Neil.

I know that I am very appreciative of Eileen's talent, because having done a little of my own crewel and needlepoint, I understand the concentration and tedium that go along with it.

I'm glad we could show her to the world! Nicely done, Sharon.

Dear Nancy, I create gardens and like getting messy, so mothers stuff gains my admiration for the patience involved. Although I can do long stitch and have done some cross stitch, when they were repairing my arm!
Regards.
Neil.

Sharran, I will have to think about the white poppies, perhaps, as Neil suggested amongst other plants to show them off. I must get on with other things at the moment and I have a friend coming to visit me on the occasion of our 55th wedding anniversary and her birthday so I must bustle about and get things done. I did her a giant cushion last year with lots of various pink roses on it, she has it on her bed and woe betide anyone who sits on it!! I am not getting any reading done at the moment as I have been caught up with a gripping TV series and quite a lot of mending jobs. Th days are not long enough!!
I do hope you enjoy these as much as I have making them.

Enjoy your time with your friend, Eileen, and Happy Anniversary to you!

I'm sure the white poppies will be lovely, whatever you plan for them.

Although my mother has finished the poppies, she has done these two in the meantime!
One a spectacle case and the other a sunglasses case that needs folding and lining.
Mothers latest project an iris tapestry is last!
Regards.
Neil.
