By Sharon Brown on August 29, 2011

Sometimes we meet people who remind us of our childhood, so it was with Margaret. She asked me to edit an article she'd written about beekeeping. I found myself transported right back to my grandfather's mountain where he kept bees many years ago. I wanted to know more about Margaret, I think you'll enjoy knowing her, too.

I love the way you are handing down your Grandmother's roses to the rest of the family. It's like a bit of her will never die.

And your sister has a legacy of helping others, long after her death.

Truly wonderful things to remember always. And your lovely, lovely lifelong romance with your beau! I loved reading that!

Thanks so much for being in our Spotlight!! Great article, Sharon!

Thanks Nancy. I'm glad you enjoyed my story.

Sharon you have a knack for saying something that reminds me of someone in my past. All the others in my family were Mom's link to what was going on in the present while I was her link to her childhood with my stories of gardening and the animals I talked about.

Thank you for inviting me to be in the Spotlight

Now Weeds no need to be jealous. I just choose not to write about the other stuff. Everyone has secrets you know.
Thank you for the compliment and well wishes for my bees. I supposedly own 2 of our hives but I sure have to fight to get to keep the honey they produce. Blinking

From the older hive which was set up last year, he's already pulled 7 frames which we put up as half pure honey and half honey with comb and got 12 pints. That was back in mid-April. The fall honey flow hasn't started here yet but will soon and it depends on the weather how much they will make.
The second hive is a new hive set up this spring. It could make extra but I only expect it to make enough for over wintering.

My first hive is an 8 frame hive and the second one is a 10 frame hive.

60 pounds is usual for extra honey but if the condtions are right and there's enough nectar they can make 100 pounds of honey per season.
