Have you attended any of your school's class reunions? If yes, did you enjoy it? If no, feel free to say why not!

It's all about choices.
When I look BACK on the reunions (from a Anglican Girls School in Alexandria, VA) I have been disappointed. The women who were doing interesting things (re: the Newsletter) didn't show up. Everyone was totally absorbed with talking about their children and their childrens' if 'they' didn't matter. Mostly they didn't - their lives had been given to their children/husband while I had the dumb luck to raise my son alone with no help from a rich ex. and I was fascinated with what other women thought and felt and did. I enjoyed my one year (Senior year) there...but I simply have no desire to live like they do/did. Big Grin

It is true that for many women, their families are the most important part of themselves and the conversation in a social setting for them is going to revolve around that which is the focus of their existence.
Those with jobs versus careers are not likely to discuss what they have been doing since they feel it is going to be boring at best and ridiculed at worst. If they are struggling with raising a family and working they most likely have little time for keeping up with the latest reading materials, world events, science or even serious hobbies.
Some will rediscover their individuality as the nest empties. Some will not. That, for me is what makes the reunion setting interesting.

I agree with Carol. My reunion took place last weekend and as I said, I would not go. I still do keep contact with several women from HS who had unsuccessfully continued to try to include me. Afterward, I heard all the gossip, mostly of women who's identities were tied to slovenly husbands, children and grands. I thought it interesting that there were comments about one old friend who had come (that I would have enjoyed seeing). She was misunderstood because in conversation it seemed that she talked mainly about her professional life (as an attorney in the state capital). Apparently they simply couldn't relate. Glad I opted out.
