Sharing memories and reminders to cherish them...not so little really. . . It is well past midnight now and Christmas is past. I have finally managed to read your post and will offer you one more little thing to tuck away...the little smile you brought to my face. You can't see it but I promise it is there for you.
You know, I can still see her. Hollow jawed, sunken eyes, no teeth. She scared me to death, but then she smiled. It wasn't pretty but those sunken eyes twinkled. I can still see that too, those twinkling eyes. And her hands were gnarled and she could hardly pick up the walnut.
Saddest thing, I can't remember who she was, just a friend of Aunt Bett's. I don't even know her name, but I remember the smile and her twinkling eyes when she gave me the walnut.
