That quote describes a dear friend of mine. I may copy it for her and frame it. I'm afraid that as I have aged, I have become much more cynical than I was years ago. But as I think on it, There is so much more to be cynical about now......
Barb, there's nothing more appropriate than sharing the quotes, and if they help somebody along the way, that's just fine.
There's another quote I've used before and like so much, much longer than this but here is I think the first line of it: "We are not happy because we are well, we are well because we are happy." Through all the cynicism and the chaos that are running rampant all over this land of ours, we need to look for happiness, even if in little things, little moments.
Yesterday when my two maples really began to shed their leaves, it looked so much like a patchwork quilt all over my yard. There were big patches of red, then green, then yellow and in the back more red from the Japanese maple then green again then more yellow. Nonstop patchwork pieces. Just that image in my mind got me through the chores of a gloomy gray day. So I invented in my mind a little bit of beauty to carry me through the day. Had to invent it, because it sure was ugly on its own. But sometimes we have to create things just to keep our heads up when we feel like drooping from all the burdens we seem destined to carry.
It's the little things we need to look toward for our happiness and ultimately our health. Gets us past too much cynicism too. Maybe . . .
The sun is shining through the trees, makes me happy. The clouds are gathering and are bringing much needed rain, makes me happy. The dog is laying peacefully on the rug next to my chair, makes me happy. I have a load of laundry hung to dry and another in the washer, makes me happy. I woke up this morning to a cold nose nuzzling my hand, makes me happy.
There are a billion or more things each day to make me happy if I focus on them rather than the one or two things that can make me sad. I prefer happy.

Just being able to focus on the positive things helps shove the negative ones back. Today is a good day because I have God, I have a loving husband, I have a good place to live, I have warmth, food, a cat curled up by the fire without a care in the world, birds at the feeder, a fresh blanket of snow, etc.
