My boys grew up with him and he was the most gentle person on air and they just loved him. He is missed along with his gentle manner and love of children.
Sorry I'm late to the party...I missed several spotlights, so I'm backtracking now.
I have an autographed photo of Fred Rogers, and also two nice personal letters from him, one written to me and one to my son. They're postmarked January 28, 1993. I had written him to tell him how much my son and I enjoyed a particular guest on his show, cellist Yo-yo Ma. He said he forwarded a copy of my letter to the musician. He was a wonderful man who truly lived his words.
