Dear Sharon, I just heard the news about you. You left this world yesterday and I didn't have a chance to say goodbye. I am sorry for that, but I am comforted to know that your passing was rather sudden so that you had little or no pain. I'm also comforted to know that before you left, you shared a positive thought with our friend Vic. You texted her that "God's got this." Indeed, He does. You know, you are the mainstay of Cubits. Week after week, your cubit has been the most read, or at least in the top three. When there was good news to share, your chat thread carried it to the world. When anyone had a problem, they turned to you. You always had a listening ear and wise advice. We all respected you and valued your opinion. How is it that you made every one of us feeling like we were your best friend? What a special talent you had for making and keeping friends. I really don't know what will happen next. Will the Blue Gardens cubit remain? Will your weekly quotes continue? We can all try to keep things going, but for such a little lady you had some pretty big shoes to fill. It just won't be the same around here without you, sweetie. I love you. Now would be a good time to re-post your Spotlight interview. I think we'd all like the chance to spend a few minutes feeling close to you today. So here it is. I'll see you again someday, dear friend. Love, Nancy

Thank you so much Nap. No one will ever replace that dear lady in our hearts. We who knew her were so terribly fortunate. Her memory will live on in my heart as long as I live. I did get to know her person to person at two Dave's Garden KY Roundups and I am so thankful for that.
Here is what I posted in several other places.

Sweet Sharon…in her memory

I read about Sharon’s death last night and I am still in shock and overcome with sorrow. I, like everyone else who knew her, loved that lady so very much. I have been thinking about it since I found out and I hope that I told her that enough. I think I did and I know that she knew I wasn't the type person who was ever able to write letters like I should have or post much on a regular basis anywhere. I think she knew that didn't mean that I didn't love her or that I would ever be missing from her sites since I read them regularly. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to meet and to know Sharon. She was a delight and she brought much joy to my life as well as to the lives of everyone she knew. It is so sad that she had to leave us but she is with Jesus now and in a far happier place where she will never again know the pain caused from her lifetime with polio since she was a little girl. We who love the Lord can rest in the fact that we will see her again some bright day in heaven. I will miss that precious lady so much as will everyone who ever knew her.
May she rest in peace....

I can't express what your friendship meant to me Sharon. You were the light I needed at times, the jester I needed at times and most of all the friend I needed always. I shall miss you dear heart every day forward......Rest now in the arms of the Lord and smile for Aunt Bett and Ninna........

I ''met'' her on DG thru her Aunt Bett stories. When you've met her once, you are friends for life. She was everything I wished I could have been, so she was my hero, my mentor, my beautiful friend who loved you just the way you were. I miss her so much already and I'm crying again. But she wants no tears shed. She is in her Glory and is the brightest light in Heaven right now. I will always love you Sharon.

Oh, Nancy, this is beautiful--thank you and bless you for putting it together!
I never met her in person, but we have been friends since 2007, starting in DG. I was so honored when she complimented my writing when I shared some of the poetry I wrote.

It's so hard referring to her in the past tense now.

Sweet Sharon you inspired me and ad so many others
You encouraged my writing, cheered me through my chemotherapy, floored me when you commented my scrap afghans were masterpieces.
You checked on me periodically to see how I was doing, asked when I was going back to writing again saying the bees needed me to keep reminding people they needed good forage plants.
You told me I had talent which made me feel good but I still don't believe that.
Im so sad to know you are gone but I learned to tuck the memories safely away in my heart pockets just like you said to do.
I know you are enjoying seeing all the ancient plants that we no longer have here on Earth and I know you are painting the heavens in glorious color for us to enjoy. I wouldn't be surprised if you are also inspiring someone to write something really awesome for us to read someday.
Rest sweetly my friend

Question authority, guide in wisdom
We had much in common, including a desire to write. So here is one of the few artistic writings I have done:
Your spirit now flies free on the wings of a butterfly
Your soul bounds joyously along the back of Sunshine
Your smile resides within the purr of a kitten
The paintings never finished now color the gardens of your friends
Your wit is writ large across the memories of those you touched
Stories yet to share will have to remain hidden within the pages of an empty book
And Aunt Bett welcomes you back to your mountain home for your final journey
Look and listen for the welfare of the whole people and have always in view not only the present but also the coming generations, even those whose faces are yet beneath the surface of the ground -- the unborn of the future Nation. The Constitution of the Iroquois Nations.

I copy and save many things that my friends say in writing both online and in emails. Here is something that I just found in my Sharon folder that I never replied to because I knew that she was having trouble with her hand not working and I didn't want her to try to create a painting for me until she felt better. It was so like her...always thinking of others.

Sharon wrote;
"Sometimes when I find myself with spare time and look for something to do . . . not this past year + . . . but those times when my life was normal, I sit around and start smallish paintings for my friends here and those others online. Now that I know that I'm not destined to live forever I might should tell you this.
This is how it goes . . .
Years ago I started a small painting for Elena. First it was the cat she had at the time, not this one but the one before this, seems as if the kitty's name was Baybee, not sure. But then she started sharing pictures of her gardens and things like that and the kitty at that time passed, so I decided to paint a flower for her. She reminds me of my Rose of Sharon, somedays it's white, somedays it's pink and some days it's lavender. Somewhere I have that painting but I have a feeling it isn't finished.

There are so many of you, but those I've known longest are at the top of the list and as I finish them, your name is on them.
And so it goes.
And so.

So Elena. No worries. You are at the top of my list, but you might want to give me a hint so I don't
send you this white canvas with 15 layers of white/lavender/pink covering all the painting that went
on before. Whattaya want your painting to be??

Well, dear Sharon, my heart is breaking once again as I read your precious words. I will remember you always dear friend.

This year she made a small painting for me too. I had admired her other magnolia picture so much that she made one for me. It's not the same, but similar. And it has a lot of blue in it, which is my favorite color. And so I cherish it as my "Blue Gardens Magnolia." I have it hanging on the wall over my computer so I look at it every day. Of course it has more meaning now than ever.

Sharon lived in my computer, since Kentucky is so far from New York, and now she lives on in that painting as well as in my heart.

Maybe it's a little morbid, but I have thought about my legacy and what will happen in my loved ones lives after I'm gone from this earth. I've wondered how many people will still be thinking of me after awhile. Time goes on and lives change, people grow and memories fade. It's the way of life.

Sharon is one person who will be remembered and cherished for a long, long time in the hearts of people all over this country and other countries as well. It is just amazing how many lives she has enhanced, in one way or another.

Miss you, Sharon. Lovey dubby

Lance, beautiful and it brought tears.

More tears.

In this group, you now know every one of us will be remembered.

My Spotlight mail from Sharon:

Could I feature you in a Spotlight article?

I just think you are absolutely one of the kindest, nicest, gentlest people I know, and also because you make me smile.
Would you please consider it??

She was describing herself too and I loved her for that.

She asked to do a Spotlight on me in the early days of that feature and I turned her down. I was bogged down in life trying to help solve a lot of family problems (a daughter's messy divorce and my beloved baby sister dying of cancer) that were overcoming my family at the moment. She understood but I always felt that I let her down. I always hated that. Knowing Sharon though, she probably didn't let it slow her down a minute and she had the wisdom and insight to understand that I couldn't concentrate on writing an article about myself at that given time. By the time I was able to do it, she had given up the job of writing the Spotlight. I still wish I had bitten the bullet and done it for her however.

Oh my goodness, Nap! A writer I am not. Let me mull it over a bit. I was quite active when I received the first request and had my fingers into many things. My life in other people's eyes would be so dull now it is scary but we old folks have cut back on many things through necessity. Thank you for another chance at that opportunity however and I will seriously consider it. I think that would be something that Sharon would approve of if she were here no doubt. Lovey dubby

Memory! What memory??????? Big Grin Oh, you mean that thing located in my head that is supposed to keep an accurate (yeah, right) account of everything that has ever happened to me in my entire 80 years. That memory! Maybe there is something left a Pandora's Box maybe.....
