Funny coincidence, Mary. I've had a song in my head this evening. The verse that keeps repeating is "yes it's true." And when I opened Cubits just now and saw this thread in my watchlist, the title you chose made me smile.
I have been wracking my brain trying to remember who said it. It was probably one of the many old men in a rest home I volunteered in while in high school. He told me that when he was a young man he had an old jalopy and most of his friends didn't own cars. He said that beat up old jalopy made it very easy for him to get dates. One night, he ran out of gas on the way to the cinema. His date got out and helped him push the jalopy 3 blocks to the gas station. That was when he knew she was the gal he was going to marry.

Awww, that was a pretty good indication of what kind of wife she would be. A fellow we knew was sweet on a girl and didn't have enough money to take her nice places. I told him to take her to the park and feed the ducks. If she went out after a couple of dates like that she might be worth pursuing. He did. She wasn't.
