"Kites rise highest against the wind, not with it."

I usually want to walk with the wind at my back, pushing me onward. To face the wind and fight my way to a goal makes achieving it all the more precious. But it make sense that to catch an updraft and rise in altitude you must be facing the wind.

Now I want to make a kite and fly it high!

I had a rainbow kite on a poster with that saying... I think I found it toward the end of college, had it on one wall or another for years!

I also think it's worth noting that kites fly their best with a hand on their string, keeping them grounded and centered while they soar.

Jill, That is a great point Thumbs up . Soaring high is only good if you are grounded and can land safely.

plus, kites need some direction to do their greatest acrobatics... somersaulting into the ocean doesn't really count LOL

I wonder if I still have that kite poster stored away somewhere... Joyanna would like it!

I was thinking about a really excellent show from a couple of young marines flying stunt kites! :-)

I'm a pretty poor kite flyer, myself. But it's thrilling when the kite is airborne! And now I've got "Let's Go Fly a Kite" playing in my head...

As "songhead" goes, I'm OK with that one!
