In June of 1968, I had been hired as a temp and was later hired full-time in the engineering department of a aerospace company. When I walked into that department, unknown to me, a young engineer said to the gentleman sitting behind him - see that girl that just walked in? I'm going to marry her someday. That engineer and I married in May of 1969 and we had 51 1/2 wonderful and beautiful years together before The Lord called him home. and it all started with glance....
Actually, I met my husband in a similar fashion. It was my first year in college, 1964. This guy was so good-looking that I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. He apparently felt the same about me. Our math classes were across the hallway from each other and at the same period of the day, so it was a game of trying not to let the other one catch us looking at each other. Until he finally approached me a couple of weeks later. We started dating, got engaged 2 years later and married one year after that, in 1967. Fifty four years later, here we are, Still together.
Aww and another sweet story Nancy!
I've known my hubby since I was 6 and he was 8 so we basically grew up together, families often went camping together with other groups of friends and we eventually became best friends. I was 12 when the thought came to me that he would make a great husband as he loved babies, would always ask to carry them and cuddle with them (he's still that way!) my next thought was, I'm 12, what the heck?!!! Got married 3 days after I turned 18, just had our 43rd Anniversary in Feb. Still my best friend.
So my story doesn't fit in this "just one glance".
Yes, I love that too. How sweet that you were aware that boys of 14 do not usually like to carry and cuddle babies, and that this young man was special for that reason. Do you and your husband have children, Sue?
