|Chelle, what a lovely story. I especially like the part about Blackie. I can just picture a little girl walking with her dog laden with nicely folded newspapers. I can't image life without a garden or a dog. I grew up in a small town also, about 7500 at the time. It's now a bustling suburb of Chicago. It was a safe town for children and my mother, now 84, is still friends with the neighbors we had then. I remember her having coffee clutches, bridge club and sewing club with the neighborhood ladies. I wonder if women in neighborhoods still do that today? A much gentler time, that's for sure.
Ive enjoyed looking at your photos all these months. Your gardens are beautiful with all the twists and turns dotted with interesting hardscape and accents. You've made yourself a beautiful paradise.
Keep up your photography interests. I wouldn't be surprised if some of your work shows up in a magazine someday "photos supplied by Chelle".
