Well, I thought I had no Valentine's Day memories, but Lynn made me remember one.

It was 6th grade. I was not very confident and thought I was unattractive. Boys didn't talk to me and vice-versa. But there was this one boy who I thought was the handsomest boy I had ever seen. (He really was!)

We distributed those cheap little Valentines too, placing them in paper bags that the teacher taped to the front of our desks. But my handsome boy was going to get a special one from me. I bought it at the pharmacy one day. I'll never forget it. It said, "I spent ten cents to buy this card, besides a lot of time. So if you're not my Valentine, you owe me a dime!"

Real romantic, huh? Of course I didn't have the nerve to sign my name, but I did slip it into his paper bag. Then I knew I'd blush if I looked at him, so I never did see him open it.

Wow, that was 50-some years ago. Funny how our mind chooses which events it wants to remember.
