Now that is sweet, Jill! And brings back memories for me. We were in a one room school as well, with folding doors to separate the upper 4 grades from the lower. I was in third grade and that was a year when I didn't like my teacher and she didn't very much like me. She did the same thing and I had made my valentine just like your Mom, but instead of coloring it, I'd used dried rose petals. Dried rose petals were brown. The animal type yellowish glue that came in those bottles with a rubber slanted with a slit top didn't add much by way of beauty to the already brown rose petals. It was a brown crinkly heart. And I was embarrassed. But my friends voted for me and though I didn't get many votes for beauty, I got most votes for maybe creative or maybe original, not sure which word she used, but something like that. Could have been for the most cracked brown heart, though. |
