List of Ingredients
2 lbs. beef, chuck, or flank cut in 1 1/2 inch cubes
1 1/2 inch cube of suet trimmed from beef
Clove of garlic; finely minced, OR stuck with toothpick so it can be removed before serving time
4 cups boiling water
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 medium onion, sliced and quartered
1 tsp. sugar
2 bay leaves
1 Tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. paprika
Dash of allsprice or cloves
6 carrots, whole, halved, or bias-cut bite size
3 potatoes, quartered, and each quarter quartered
12 small white onions
1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup water

Preparation
Slowly brown the beef making sure All sides are browned
Saute minced garlic at this time
Add boiling water, lemon juice, Worchestshire sauce, sliced onions and seasonings
Cover and reduce heat
Simmer for 2 hours, or until meat is tender
Do not forget to add the cloves ( it does improve the flavor)
Add more water if necessary during simmering process
Add vegetables and contine cooking 30 minutes or until veggies are tender
Remove meat and veggies to a warm dish thicken stew liquid with a smooth paste of flour and water
Cook Uncovered for 5 minutes
Pour slightly thickened 'gravy' over meat and veggies and serve
Note
During the simmering stage of cooking the stew can go in the oven at 350 deg. for 2 hours
Watch the liquid level so it doesn't run dry
