This was a first for me. Many restaurants are featuring deep fried dill pickles on their appetizer menus. We tried them at a local restaurant. They were cut in coins and pretty soggy and greasy. I thought I could do better.

This is a small recipe; it can be doubled.

List of Ingredients
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1 tsp dill weed
salt & pepper

1 egg
1 cup flour
1/2 cup milk
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. hot sauce
salt & pepper
1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder
Cayenne Pepper

15 baby dill pickles

Dipping Sauce
Mayonaise
horseradish
black pepper
cayenne
pickle juice for thinning

Vegetable Oil salt & pepper

Preparation
Combine cornmeal, 1/2 cups flour, 1/2 cup corn meal, dill weed salt & pepper. Mix well & set aside.


Combine egg and 1/2 cup milk; beat well. Add 1 cup flour, Worcestershire Sauce, hot sauce, salt and pepper, garlic powde4r, & cayenne, to personal preference. Beat well and set aside.

Dip drained pickles into flour mxture and then into milk/egg mixture. Do this two times.
Deep fry at 350 degrees until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

Dipping Sauce
Mayonnaise with horseradish,black pepper, cayenne, & thinned with a bit of pickle juice. We like horseradish so it dominated the sauce.

Cooking Time & Temperature
350 degrees F. Fry until golden brown.
