Nice! Thanks Arlene....that's DH, with his favorite beverage. We just love those old gnarly juniper trees. This is in northern Arizona, near Payson and Blue Ridge Reservoir. Overlooking East Clear Creek. We'll be heading back up that way soon. We're trying to find an old camp spot we used to backpack into years ago. There's a great swimming hole down there. These days we will just car camp at the top and hike down during the day. My backpacking days are done! Sticking tongue out

Marti and I used to like camping several places in Southern California and one place in Northern California. Most of our camping was in the Ventura Mountain above Ojai...along the beach in Carpenteria, the deserts of mojave and Mitchell Caverns Natural Preserve off hwy 40 going toward Las Vegas, Death Valley in late October and November just to name a few.

We camped on the beach and I believe it WAS Carpenteria. It was beautiful . . full moon on the ocean. We had the station wagon and sleeping bags. Grilled on a throw away grill. Great experience but we slept horribly. . . never tried it again!

TLC, our kids grew up camping at Carpinteria! We always had the best times there. We used to spend a week there in the summer...Robataille's Candy Store, the Palms for dinner, and don't forget The Spot...the best place to get a hamburger!

She did live here but had to move back to Calif. to care for her Grandson. She left the end of July. You can catch her over on the Gypsy Camp Forum...she has a page there.

She is in Ventura, Calif. A stone throw from the beach. On good, warm days she takes her GS to play feeding the sea gulls, and the squirrels that frequent the beach....he is afraid of the water and so far has only got is feet wet when the soft tide comes in against the shore...
