Has anyone tried meditation for anything?

If I am having a stressful day at work- I work in a used bookstore. I will take just a few minutes to breathe deep and try to "clean my chakras" as I call it. Just breathe in deep and blow out deep. Now whether it is all in my head or not, it does seem to calm me.

I'm sure it does help to relieve stress. I took much more drastic steps several decades ago to eliminate stress from my life. I got a divorce, severed all ties with awful family members, changed jobs to one I could do at home on my own schedule, sold my car, and in general -- got rid of every irritating person and thing in my life. I was joking to a friend the other day that the only stressful thing left in my life is the occasional kink in my garden hose.

I'm with Zu. Of the options, I like meditation the least - my life too active, I never could manage 'quite' time. I do use counting situps on ab equipment for 'clearing the mind' and I enjoy the counting for that purpose. My hub bought a timer but went back to counting, he enjoys 'clearing the mind' by counting...
Positive attitudes are sincerely appreciated.
