Adeniums: Adenium Database
When we began to think about creating an Adenium database we immediately began to think of problems that might develop. One major problem is that there is no real agreement on the number of Adenium species. Some say nine species, some say eleven and so on.My own thoughts are that nine is probably the correct number, with the additional ones being minor variations of the other species.
The second problem we are likely to encounter results from the fact that Ebay sellers
have been selling seed of known cultivars and implying that the resulting plants will be the
same cultivar as the mother plant. This is not so as Adeniums don't come true from seed. This has left hundreds of people believing they have a certain cultivar when what they actually have is an unidentified seedling. As beautiful as some of these are, they don't
belong in the database.
Before you post a picture to the database go through the files and make sure your cultivar of Adenium has not already been posted. If it is posted you can click on it and post your
picture and comments on the already existing thread. Options are at the bottom of the entry page.
Bloom sizes are to be measured across the face, not including tendrils.
