Adeniums: 2010 Germination Results

I thought it might be interesting to check the germination rate of seed from several Ebay sources and of my own seed.

My seed are not a fair comparison since they are very fresh when I plant them.They have  been harvested less than a week when they are planted.I include them just to show what can be expected from very fresh seed.

My seed....................two batches...................................................................98 %

Mr.Ko.......................many batches over a three year period..............................90%+

King Adenium............1 batch..........................................................................51%

Commart 2000...........2 batches......................................................................48%

siam_product..............1 batch.........................................................................30%

thaiperfect_gems........1 batch..........................................................................82%

                                2nd batch......................................................................6%

All seed were treated the same,that is,all were soaked for 8 hours and planted in a loose potting soil with plenty of perlite.They were soaked when planted and then kept moist until they sprouted.Notice that Mr Ko's and one batch from thaiperfect_gems gave good germination.The others were awful.I believe I will stick entirely with Mr.Ko's seed, in the future ,when I need extras.
