Nothing excites me more than a pile of junk left in the alleys of our little town. Whether its Rubbermaid containers, maple end tables, headboards, discarded clay pots, lawn chairs. I'm more than willing to climb over the pile like an archeologist in pursuit of treasure. My DH works at a local hospital that has a MAJOR dumpster. Over the years, its been a fine resource for discarded plants, pots, chairs, tables, office equipment, you name it. I'll soon post some of our finds for you inspiration....
I couldn't believe my eyes, Cora! It was rolled up underneath a mattress and box spring. It caught my eye, because the fringe was in excellent condition. Then I took a good look at the outer perimeter pile. That was good too! So, I got DH (the weight lifter) to move the heavy stuff and drag it to our house.
When we unrolled it, it was very sandy and dirty, but the pile was excellent! I vacuumed it, then used my Hoover rug cleaner on it .
She came out looking showroom new, except for one tiny corner about 3" across where their dog had given it a bit of a chew. I hid that under the piano.
I have a leafy refuge where big things happen in a small way. We grow and hybridize Brugmansia, Passiflora, Amaryllis and a host of other tropical plants and flowering vines. We also enjoy art, writing, music, creating video presentations and woodworking.
