As a large portion of our nation continues to face dangerous winter weather, I'm reminded of a similar time here in Iowa in the early 1980s.

Great to hear from you, Nancy! Glad you enjoyed the story and, yes, I was definitely blessed. Still am, actually. Big Grin

Great story! I was in IA then, coldest winter in 100 years. Your story triggered my memory of the intense awareness I had that my life was on the line each time I went outside, a unique experience for a southern girl. The sigh of tangible relief and a silent acknowledgment of grace when you made it back to your home were renewed blessings. Thanks for a captivating read and a reminder that life is so precious. I'm very glad you and your fellow travelers had a happy ending.

If I had gold stars I would paste them on your stories this week, Larry. Both of them. True stories with happy endings are always the very best!
