So ... what'dya think?
Hello Sharon,

I have done other work related to sign language, including sculpture, but I haven't scanned them into the computer ... I've given a fair number away so they'll not be scanned anyway. I have always had a fascination with hands ... so many of my interests involve manual dexterity kinds of things ... I have done many studies of hands in my art work with the thought that if one can accurately render the anatomy, proportion and activity of hands, then likely one can draw, paint, sculpt, or render almost anything. They also make wonderful models for depth of field and use of light and shadow. I haven't done much with drawing of signs in recent years ... the A-B-I-L-I-T-Y study is more of fingerspelling than signs, really ... because the dynamic/three-dimensional quality of signs is difficult to capture meaningfully in a static image. I have done so many hand and face studies ... not portraits, really, just studies of how "flesh hangs on bone," light and shadow, proportion and anatomy, such that one gets a kind of "feeling" from it ... that once I got so I could do a face or hands without a model I sort just "moved" to something else. I can pretty much draw or "render" almost anything I can visualize.

I used to just do things sitting in a rocking chair in the living room ... but lately I've been thinking of wanting a studio. So I'm working on get that worked out (one of many projects underway) and then I'll start doing more art. The muse moves in mysterious ways ... I'm sure you know how that goes, too ... Smiling

Here's a darker image of "Storm Shelter" ... Requires interpretation in a satirical sense ...
