Help with Rex types needed here! I don't know what's going wrong, my Rex Begonias were beautiful for 2 years. Then last year I had all sorts of issues, first the kittens kept digging in them and knocking them around, then in moving them around outside to find a safer location, they got sunburn from too intense morning sun. Moved them again only for the gutter above them to get stopped up and the waterfall splattered most of the soil out of their pots. So when they came inside last fall, they were alive, but far from the healthy specimens that summer typically produces. I repotted all of them in the winter into Miracle Grow potting soil, and kept them under lights with humidity trays through winter. They seemed to slowly recover, and looked like they were going to be ready to start growing come spring, but no such luck. There has been little change in them, some I'm pretty sure are dead now, and a couple seem to be hanging in there...barely.

I don't feel like I'm doing anything differently than when they were thriving? The main difference I can think of, is that I had potted them into home made potting medium a couple of years ago. It was mostly composed of partially decomposed, mulched leaves and worm castings. Could the MG potting soil be the problem? I'm wondering if they prefer a more porous mix?

Only the Rex types are having the issues, my cane types and some others are doing well.
