|My son was sitting on my lap when I read this story yesterday. He saw the photos of Cupcake and wanted me to read to him, so I did. At four he's just about the perfect age, I think, to start learning about dealing with eventualities and the loss of loved ones.
Well, we read it, acted out as many parts as we could, ('paw reaching down', 'meowed hellos', and talked about the content. He of course had questions, and I did my best to answer them.
Sharon, you're in my thoughts. Missing a best buddy is tough, but your experiences with Cupcake and your lovely article will certainly help at least one little boy learn about the idea of final departure.
(BTW - We read the story back to back three times before I had to take a break. )
|What a sweet message, Chelle. Thank you.
It pleases me that Cupcake's story might help little ones be more prepared for life and for death.
Thank you so much for letting me know about your son.
Cupcake was full of surprises, you might want to read down the list of comments that Zany started. I think it's title is Sweet Dreams, Cupcake. You'll find there the last little surprise she left for me. It's poignant, but it's just the way Cupcake was.
