Oh, I'm really enjoying your photo's! I especially like seeing birds that we don't have in our area. We have the common Blue Jay down this way but not that beautiful Stellar's Jay and I've never seen a PIne Grosbeak either. We sometimes see Cedar Waxwings during the winter and it's always exciting to have those beauties visiting here in the south but I've never seen the Bohemian Waxwing and it sure is a pretty one too. We have the Loggerhead Shrike down here and it looks very similar to your Northern Shrike.
Thanks Lin. The Bohemian and Cedar Waxwings are very photogenic, I have a few really nice ones to post tomorrow. I am posting the winter birds first and will follow with spring and summer. We are on a migration path so sometimes I get to see unusual birds for this area.
I love the blue on the Stellar's Jay! We don't have them here, but we have lots of blue jays, and last week I saw the first bluebird here ever!! I have been wondering where they hide!
Y'all are gonna think I'm crazy, but a few winters ago, I fed the moles...we have mostly clay for soil, and they loosen it up so it mixes with the forest topsoil, so they are welcome here. I'd see a mole-hole and drop mealworms down it, and I could hear the mole crunching away on them. LOL
