Good pictures, Toni, the last ones are sad, I think. OK, this old lady didn't mind the first 200 miles, but driving back home on those same 200 miles right into the western sun set was not a bit of fun. I am flat worn out. Almost stayed the night with a friend in Elizabethtown, but decided Sunshine would be somewhat unhappy with me, not to mention floating, but I am so freakin' tired. Been home just long enough to get some kinda caffeine and an Aleve and let the dancing dog out so maybe this pounding headache will go away. Just wanted to let you know I'm home and all in one frazzled piece. Later. |

Thanks, Sharon. What a trip! Hope that your headache goes away soon, and that you sleep well tonight and wake up rested and refreshed in the morning. Interesting pictures, Toni. Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most. More ramblings at http://thegatheringplacehome.myfastforum.org/forum54.php |

Great shots, Toni! ![]() Glad you made it back home safely, Sharon, and that Sunshine won't have to float. ![]() Wilma and I usually go dining and dancing on New Year's Eve. This year the temp is hovering near zero and we just didn't feel like doing a 50 mile round trip in the dark and cold. We had a cozy dinner at our favorite local restaurant and just finished playing a game of Scrabble by the fire. Who knows what else the night holds... Toni, that warmth you mentioned will take its sweet old time getting here. We're supposed to be in the single digits for highs through Thursday. Friday's high is currently set at 15. Big whoop! Happy New Year to all! Hubby and I are at home tonight with 10 grandkids - ages 8 to 21. They are having fun playing games - but they are LOUD! I guess happy is loud these days. ![]() I hope you all are safe and well and that you have a warm and happy new year. ![]() |

Happy New Year to all of our friends here. Sharon, we are so glad you are home safe. That was some trip to do alone. You are a BRAVE and determined lady. I am sure Sunshine was more than ready for you to be home again. DH went to bed and our DD called and talked to me for a good while on the phone. Her DH had gone to bed, too. She was so bored being "alone" so she called me. I invited her to come tomorrow for dinner but she did not say one way or the other. Her DH might have other plans. I want to make a nice country dinner for DH tomorrow and hope she can come, too. I don't mention all of your names each time but I try to read posts as much as I can. You all are so busy. Sometimes I wonder how on earth you can do it all. It makes me tired just reading about your schedules sometimes, lol. My husband spent NYE last year in the hospital with me. He had special permission to stay past visiting hours so we could see the year out together. We had no idea what a rough year would be ahead for me (us). It is our tradition to pray the old year out and the new year in. Some will think that quite odd. I don't know about you but I feel we need God's blessing to get through another year. I think we all do. None of us knows what is ahead. Wishing you all a wonderful night. Oma |

It's that time of year when we let go of the negative, forget the bad, and look forward to a new year filled with all that we need. It's also the time to be thankful for the good things, the happy moments, the memories that have been made. I can think of no better way to bring in the new year than do be doing exactly what Jill is doing, celebrating with 10 grandchildren. Making memories! Beautiful. Thank you all for being such a big part of my past year. We've managed to make a lot of memories ourselves, along with solving some world crises and of course narrowly averting the creation of some along the way. I think of CeCe and the joy she brought to our thread and the memories she gave to us. Priceless gifts. And my thanks to each one of you for contributing to this circle of friendship that has been formed over the years right here. Our group would be incomplete without you. I love you all. Be safe, be warm, be well and I wish the very best ever of all New Years to you. |
