Toni - I can't tell you the number of people that have taken aspirin because they thought they were having a heart attack. The aspirin relieved the symptoms BUT the heart had an attack AGAIN. Please get to ER - they can tell if you've had a heart attack. Please!

Vic - I've had this particular pain in my chest since I was 19 years old, so we're looking at over 20 years now. But the combination of the dizzy & the arm hurting is what triggered my worry. But I made a list of all the accounts & everything just in case DH has to take care of bills 'cuz I'm not here. I also have enough insurance on my head that I'm worth way more dead than alive, so I know he'll be well taken care of with no bills. I'm not stupid, I know that my clock's ticking (long-life isn't in my family history) and I'm well over 1/2 of my allotted time, so I'm gonna live it up & enjoy what I've got.

Now I gotta go get dressed & shovel some snow. Whee!!!

Never be afraid of a scar. It just means that you were stronger than something that tried to hurt you.

Not your call to make, Toni. Not your call to decide if your allotted life span is over. Unless of course you decide to self destruct and that is an entirely different matter. But self destruction comes in lots of varieties, shoveling snow when you have been sick and are hurting is one of them. Seems to me you are waking up every day thinking, 'What can I do to self destruct today?' And then you come up with a list.

Not telling you what to do, just telling you to think about it.
Our 'time's up' comes soon enough. No need to rush it.

I'm just sitting her shaking my head. Toni, you need to have some tests and find out why you have had some of these symptoms for 20 years and why there is now numbness in your arm and dizzyness added to the list. Hope you live to read this!
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

And that's the truth.

You might not get a lot of flack from your Mom, but you've got several of us right here who won't be so gentle. And I'll tell you what, whatever you are doing that you shouldn't be doing, we are sitting right there on your shoulder and we are watching you. Give it up, Toni, or we will drive you nutz.

And that also is the truth.

Great pictures, Toni.
Glad Nike is better.
Think Mary, Vic, Sharon, Margaret, have some very good advice for you.
Speaking in more than anatomical terms, they all have their heads screwed on right!

Lance, I still love that stuff.
It was such fun.

Toni I know you have a hard time being still, but you really need too. You've got a cold or the flu and if you keep going at the rate you are, and since your not resting, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if you have bronchitis or worse walking namonia. (sp? sorry spell check won't give me the right word *Blush* )

Belive me when I say, if you keep going at rate your going you will be in a bad way. Way back I was managing a restraunt. Had a cold , but knew I still had to go to work. The cold got worse and I didn't rest. The one night I went into work, about a half hour later, I felt dizzy and kept going. Next thing I knew , I was home and the owner was putting me to bed. Flat out , passed out and when went to docs had walking namonia (sp?) Had me down for almost 6 months before the body could recover and now it so easy to get sick and have a relapse. That why I left market early today.

Was 18F at 4 am at market and nevr warmed up to the 55-57F and nothing but sun and no clouds like they said. Everybody left early because of no customers, but back to your health issues.

If you are out and about and driving, you never know if you could have an attack . Like me you won't know you are goign to have it til it happens and than it is too late. You may have enough insurance to take care of hubby, but what about the adults or the children you injure or kill because you was behind the wheel and lost control and don't say it won't or can't happen cuz it can and does.

Sharon right... Your cared about which is why folks are trying to warn you and help you. Group hug

Also, adding my five cent cuz of inflation or maybe it should be a quarter, but beautiful sunset pictures and awwwwwww glad your kitty feeling better. Tr some of that Vics on your chest. May just help. Thumbs up

Star - I've had walking pneumonia. Not fun, is it. But, at the same time, when you have bills to pay, you have to do what you have to do. I'm not doing this because I'm high on meth or whatnot. I do this because it's how I just live. I can't stand sitting still. Cannot stand it. I get antsy and literally will have jerks & twitches if I'm sitting still, which is why I don't do that much until later at night. I think it's also because, for a while, I wasn't eating properly and not getting the nutrients I needed, so I'm trying (trying!) to eat healthier. I do appreciate everyone's thoughts about me, I really do. Makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside, which is why I'm sitting here Crying But, at the same time, I just can't help it. Didn't do much today, just shoveled the driveway (only got about 5-6", so not bad at all), then got some lunch, and then went to my favorite fish store & hung out there for a while. Very relaxing and fun at the same time. Now home, finishing up cooking dinner, and will be taking it easy (for me) for the rest of the night. Maybe I'll make some candles? I have everything I need to make candles, just waiting for a snowy day to do it, and, well, I got a snowy day! My cold is almost 100% overwith.. have just a teensy little tickle in my bronchial tubes, not enough to even warrant a cough. Haven't been hacking up anything either, so I think I'm over it. Of course, that's why I'm making my infamous Udon soup today & have red chile pork burritos ready for tomorrow. Chile wipes out colds in no time flat.. proven medical fact!

I do love you all. I really do. Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Crying Crying Crying Lovey dubby Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

Lance - I'm really surprised that, with your knowledge & background & qualifications that places aren't jumping at the opportunity to have you on board. Maybe you should do what Star suggested & look at the Gulf of Mexico & BP? Or around FL with the Caribbean corps?

So that's how you spell that word. *Blush* Pneumonia ! For me to even try and say it, it is a tongue twister. Like trying to say aluminum . Never comes out quite right when I try and say it. I usually try and say it a couple of times, but somebody always has to say it the right way. Couldn't say it when I was a tot either. Whistling

Glad your feeling better, but if the chest pains and numbness keeps up, PLEASE go to a doc. Promise????? Hilarious!

When you start making your candles, would you share how you do it? I would love to learn.

Speaking of candles, I was thinking the other day how I used to heat paraffin in an old double boiler and pour it over ice in a waxed milk carton. Did you all ever do that? It made the prettiest lacy candles when the wax solidified and you poured the melted ice out, then tore the milk carton away. Of course I poked the wick in as I added the ice and tied it to a pencil and laid it across the top of the milk carton, to be cut away from the pencil when it was solid. Coolest project ever. If you want it to be colored, then just toss a piece of crayon in when the wax is melting.

And then there are sand candles, made by forming a shape in wet sand and pouring wax around an attached wick. The sand forms a crust on the outside of the candle. Very very cool. Cheap too. We did both these projects when I taught, but the projects are old as the hills since I've been doing them forever. The students loved them.

I tried the one with the ice cubes, came out with a top heavy candle that wouldn't stand up. Eventually it was remelted and used on top of jam.

Rectangular upright milk cartons that you can tear away. Same size all the way up. It couldn't get topheavy in that kind of carton.

I have made those - only I used a half gallon carton with a quart carton inside, then filled the space between the cartons with ice. Poured wax over it and when it was all done, it was a lacy hollow square. We cut out Christmas cards and used melted wax to "glue" the card to each side of the wax square. You place a candle inside the wax square and the light shines through the Christmas card cut-outs. If you use a fork to "whip" the melted left over wax, it forms a frothy, snow looking substance that can be applied to all the edges of the wax square. It was a fun project.

We have light snow again this evening. We're expecting only a couple of inches, then the arctic air mass descends on us for a couple of days. Several advisories and warnings have been issued. Stay safe and warm everyone!

Just like that, Jill, and I loved the look of those candles, whether they were the wax square or the one made just in the carton. Either way is pretty.

Waiting for snow and cold here too. Oh yeah, I can hardly wait.

Sharon, those temps I mentioned earlier turned out to be nothing, compared to what's coming. The high tomorrow is -1 and it gets worse from there. The low Sunday night is -25 with a blustery wind chill of -50! Schools will be closed in most of Iowa on Monday, when the high will be -15. Lots of shelters are being set up in towns and cities in our part of the state. At -50 wind chill, exposed skin freezes in less than 5 minutes. Hasn't been this cold in decades. Those 8 inches of predicted snow are going to raise havoc in your area if they materialize. Stay safe. We have an ice cube candle from one of Wilma's sisters. She made it in a tall, round Quaker Oats box.

With the advent of such frigid weather, I decided to concentrate on a warmer season. I just posted one of the outcomes of that contemplation: http://cubits.org/articlesongardening/articles/view/1482/

Mary, I got some hand warmers for Christmas and have been using them. The one complaint I have is that they warm your palms just fine while your fingertips freeze.

Vic, I hear ya about the gloves and mittens. I've been wearing two pairs of gloves. Mittens would be better, but I have to have my index finger available to operate the retractable leash.

Sharon, we slept on feather beds when we lived in Germany. Never realized how warm such a feather sandwich really is.

Lance, I've tried battery heated gloves as well. Same complaint as with the chemical heaters. Hope some avenue of employment opens for you soon.

Toni, hope you know what you're doing regarding your health. Please be careful. WOW on the sunset photos. Kitty photos as well. Glad Nike improved quickly.

I'm glad that the kitty is better. Warmer tomorrow up in the low 20s. But rain coming on Mon. That means ice with all the snow here & don't like that.
