New thread for our dial up friends. We came from here: http://cubits.org/bluegardens/thread/view/77646/ I'll close the old thread and lock it so nobody gets lost. Star, since we started this new thread just for you, I'll be expecting to see you at least once a day and if you go missing I'll come looking for you. ![]() |
Star, thanks for all the fattening advice from the other thread, but I'm afraid I'd be comatose if I tried that. I really am working on that 3 pounds though. The weather hasn't decided what to do. Sunshine and clouds all on the same page, with a flurry here and there. Wonky weather for sure. |
I am on dial-up as well Sharon, so thank you ! ![]() |

Great report, Sharon. I hope you weren't too tough on the doctor. Thanks, Larry. Very useful information. Great picture of Sunshine, Sharon. Sunshine: is she expecting something good or is it love? |
Charlie, you know me too well. Luckily the doctor has a nurse practitioner and she is the one who soothes troubled waters if I get a little rebellious. ![]() That's Sunshine's laugh. I can't remember now what she was so happy about but she gets those little laughing things about once or twice a day and I swear she just sits or runs around laughing. Maybe she's reading over my shoulder or something, but she is a happy dog. Linda, you should have told me. I was told that the way this site was set up, we could have unending threads with no problem because it only loads the first page and the last, with none in between. But I've come to realize that slowness can occur when there are lots of pictures on those in between pages, for whatever reason. So I've been trying to accommodate those with dial up since figuring that out. We sure don't want to quit posting pictures, we love them so much. So just yell real loud if things start slowing down because I won't notice unless you tell me. ![]() |

Oh Sharon, we are so much alike in many ways. I am too fat and you are too skinny. ![]() I am having a rip fit, or panic attack or whatever you want to call it because I must go to the doc tomorrow morning for my results of my regular blood work results. I go every 6 months because of the bloodpressure meds I am on and the cholesterol meds. She is going to tell me to eat less cheese, drink more water, get more exercise...blah blah blah......I already do more than most 85 year olds and just because she is a very thin person, she thinks it is easy ....not...... I have anxiety on a normal day that I keep under raps with xanax (small doze, not a druggy), and I get panic attacks just thinking about tomorrow. Today I was a mess just a shaky mess. I swear if my stomach would take it I would drink myself into a stuper just to stop shaking. Maybe that would make me shake more. ![]() I also agree that you could not live alone in a colder climate. I lived many years alone on our farm after my husband died and it was difficult. I had to hire people to do everything and when you maintain your own home it is not easy to stay within a budget as you all know. Had I not bred the parrots and sold them, I would never have made it all those years. The bird money kept them and me in food. Off to feed my gang now. Have a good evening and thanks for listening. |

Sharon : When I was having blood pressure problems the nurse would take it & then at the end of my visit the Dr would take it again. It was always lower. |
Thanks Sharon , but no real problem here, the photos load fairly well. It is videos I cannot do. ![]() |

JB, when I am 85 I hope I can do even a little bit of all that you do!! I was in total panic mode yesterday morning over the impending visit to the doc. I swear I must have worn 4 layers of clothes and that was really stupid because it was nearly 60 then and by the time I saw him I was sweating, but anyway it's over now and though I do have the bloodwork to wait the results of, I don't anticipate any problem. But even with the 4 layers of clothes, I still came up short on the scale. So don't sweat it, JB, there are plenty of us who just hope we are as well and as strong as you are when we get to our 80s. You'll do just fine tomorrow. But I can't help you a bit with the weight thing, much as I'd like to. Y'all might be right about the b/p thing. Might have just been the stress of the visit. Anytime you have problems with the thread length, you just tell me, sorry about the videos, Linda, I can't do a thing about that. |

I have to admit my daughter laughed at me because when I dressed she told me my jeans were too big and looked too baggy and I told her I thought the extra fabric might weigh an extra pound or two. But I'm over it now. I've got another month to gain those danged 3 pounds. I should have thought to put one or two of those rolls of quarters in my pocket . . . I always have loose change in the bottom of my purse and I try to keep them rolled. Can't believe I could have had a couple of them in my pockets because I wore a big baggy blazer over my: 1. cami 2. tee shirt 3. turtleneck sweater over jeans and the big baggy blazer over that. In 60 degrees. Had all of that on too, plus my shoes when I weighed. And jewelry. Tons of bangle bracelets. Heh. |

Thanks so much for making the new thread Sharon. Really appreciate it. ![]() This is my come and chill cubit. I can kick off the shoes, put the feet up and munch and chill and read to my hearts content. Oh and you send hat beautiful pooch to come get me, well if he don't come back right away it cuz he stretched out on the love seat sharing pizza with me. ![]() For real though bananas and peanut butter sandwiches. I am tryign to get this 30 pounds off my middle and so I thought Ill just eat PB & J sandwiches. get me some protein and Pb good for you. Every time I got the munchies I would make PB&J. I would get on scale and sure wasn't goign down any. Was going up. Than was talking to one of the Native American Farmers and discovered that all the PB was adding weight. Yep it healthy for you he said, but that what farmers use to fatten up animals. I said no wonder I now have 4 muffin top rolls. Of course it could be from all the muffins I eat too. ![]() Did I tell ya all about my first attempt at making my own suet? |
Nope, Star, you didn't tell us, but we're waiting to hear!!! Well, truth is I eat peanut butter but you know, I don't nibble or munch very much. I think the truth is, I have a lot of trouble sitting still. Vic, isn't Hank sort of on the skinny side? Does he ever sit still? Larry's pretty thin, and Larry isn't very still either. Maybe it has to do with staying in motion. |
Another cute dog, JB. What with Sharon's, Larry's, Vic's, Oma's, etc, pouch, we could have a regular dog show. I'm sure they'd all get on well, unlike our cats who may try to kill each other. Never brought up to PB, but love it now, Star. Carol's saying a spoon of it is a healthier snack than carbohydrate ones, because it's protein. And I'm sure genes, Sharon. Genes like mine rely more on the will power of their owner. I'm working at it. |

Better check the fireplace, might need some more wood. Yep. Wonder how the daylily seedlings in the basement are doing. Look good. While I'm down here I'd better check on the bulbs I'm forcing. Two pots ready. Better take 'em up. Darn, window sills are full. Need to move some of those plants down to the basement under grow lights. Tight squeeze. Too many pots under lights all ready. Oh well. Gosh, time for my dental appointment already. Check the computer quickly on my way out. Back from the dentist. Time to walk the dogs. Skating along on the ice behind Oliver. Off to a viewing in Marengo. Hope there's not a long line. Back from Marengo. Wonder if I've mulched the more tender daylilies enough. Better check. Snow has melted. Better put some more mulch on. Back inside. Goodness, bulbs in three fixtures are burned out. Down to the basement for new bulbs. Pull chair under light fixture. Change bulb. Repeat. Repeat. Supper already? Wolf down pork roast in cream sauce with apples and garlic, mashed potatoes, and Wilma's special sweet corn. Cheese cake muffin for dessert. Better check the fireplace again. Yup, more wood. Ashes really need to be carried outside. Can't do that until the morning, though. Sit down at computer, click on cubits in task bar, check to see what's going on in the forum. Ooops, dishwasher's done. Need to help Wilma unload. Not good if I don't. Back to the computer. Check today's conversation. Oh, Sharon says I don't sit still. Wonder where she got that notion. ![]() Cottage-in-the-Meadow Gardens: Come on in and take the tour! Check out the photos! As a gardener: When planning for a year, I plant corn. Sharon, you might have sweat those three pounds off with the ten pounds of clothes. ![]() Ella, your weight-gain plan sounds like it would work real fast! ![]() |

Anybody who needs to lose weight, just read Larry's post above again and again, it's the perfect diet plan. Now wonder how I knew that? Actually you left out a few steps, Larry, but just minor ones. Nothing big. Renee, you might be right. |
