Here's your healthy tip for the week:

http://allthingsplants.com/ideas/view/Sharon/1689/The-Bean/

And wcgypsy put an awesome bean soup recipe in our recipe thread, so check it out. I made it tonight, minus the sausage, plus tons of parmesan, and I'm here to tell you it was delicous. Fastest best soup evah!!! Also added a few more herbs, rosemary, for one.

So I fixed my kitchen drain and tonight I realize it's still leaking around the joint so that means I didn't get it tight enough. I do believe I'm going to have to dry it all out and bring out the E6000 that Larry suggested. Should be really dry by morning, so that's tomorrow's agenda. That and my awesome vacuum.

What an exciting life I live. I need more grandchildren like Jill has.
Sleep tight, y'all.

Awww - SWEET peaceable kingdom Lovey dubby Lovey dubby

Good Morning!

23 with a high of 45 today.

Sharon, yes, Hank is thin with not an ounce of fat on him. His metabolism goes at warp speed.

Larry Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing no rest for the wicked Big Grin

I LOVE peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, etc. and eat lots of it. I just bought size 4 pants last week so all those butters aren't hurting too much but I do work out everyday so that helps Thumbs up

Vic, where do you find cashew butter?
I was a size 4 once....when I was a toddler. Hilarious! Good for you for working out regularly--can you send some of that motivation my way?

Yayyyy for you, Vic!! If I could ever get to a 4 y'all would hear me holler. For my height that would be a good size to be, but no matter how much peanut butter I eat, it doesn't seem to happen. But I'm working on it. Problem is, the more I eat the faster is my warp speed. (Good term, Vic, hadn't thought of using that one).

I make it Renee although you could find it in a health food store. I make a lot of my own nut butters. If you have a food processor, you can make nut butter. I just add the nuts, honey, sometimes coconut or walnut oil. You can also add cinnamon, extracts, etc., depending on the flavor you're looking for.

As for motivation, I started out last April hoping to lose 10 pounds. 9 months and 25 pounds later I'm still amazed I do this everyday. I've always been physically active but now I lift weights every other day and on alternate days I do interval training or some kind of aerobic moves. I walk the dogs everyday up a mountain and I also jump on my rebounder. I do the rebounder more for cleaning my lymph nodes but it is also heart healthy. My house doesn't get cleaned like it used to but I don't care. Shrug! Big Grin

Have you ever made pecan butter, Vic? A friend sent me lots of pecans for Christmas and I have frozen most of them, but I was wondering about butter. I've never made it actually, so I suppose it takes a lot of nuts for even just a cup of butter. Of course the biggest problem would be getting that brown stuff out as I shell them. Unlike almonds or something that comes out in one piece.

It's a great regimen you're on, Vic, I wish I were able to do all the leg stuff. I don't think I'd lose weight, but I would gain muscles. And if I had that kind of regimen it might help me to eat more.

I gotta warn you, though, if you lose more sizes, clothes are harder to find.

I've never made pecan butter but you certainly can. If you google it, you will get lots of hits. I don't follow a recipe, I always put the nuts in first and then stream in some honey, and as I said, sometimes oil. I'm a believer in good fats and eat a lot of EVOO on my salads. I don't like to make a lot of nut butter at a time. It will go rancid and I do refrigerate mine.

I have gained in my quads but have lost in my thighs as I'm building muscle, even at my old age and muscle takes up less space than fat. Overall, I've lost about 35 inches. I don't want to lose anymore weight.

Sharon, as for Hank's warp speed metabolism, he's 6' 3" and only weights 178 on a good day. He could easily weigh 200.

Mmm, the nut butter sounds yummy! I'll bet it's a lot cheaper to make it yourself, too.
I never even thought about freezing nuts. That's a good idea, since I buy extra walnuts when they're on sale, for banana bread.

Vic, that's the size my husband was.

Good grief I don't dare lose in my thighs. I have chicken legs already.
Truth is, I have more upper body mass, though not much of it, but that comes from the polio too, I think. Crutches, and the year or so of braces on my legs. The lower body didn't do anything but the upper body did it all during my early growing years. So I have pretty good shoulders. That's about all.

Anyway. Larry, do you move at warp speed too? Well, of course you do.
Dumb question.

Trouble is I eat the pecans as I shell them. It would take me all the danged day to collect even a cup full of them. I can't sit still that long, not even cracking and shelling pecans.

Hurray! Hurray! Made it back from the doctor with a great report. Everything is fine. Wow, what a relief. I must still watch my cholesterol and stay on an eat healthy diet but otherwise, Doc is happy, I am happy and all is well.

First thing I did was stop at McDonalds and got a quarter pounder with FF and coke. I am so bad, but I was hungry and I will go back on my good diet tomorrow. All things in moderation, that is my rule.

Thanks for all the moral support. Thumbs up
