It doesn't feel like spring, I know, but I just like writing the word. Big Grin
One can always hope!

Time to start a new thread, so here we go. I thought I'd bring one of Margaret's gorgeous blooms with us.

We came from here: http://cubits.org/bluegardens/thread/view/77859/

I'll close that old thread and lock it so that we don't lose anybody.

Oma, you do an amazing amount of work considering how sick you've been, so don't ever think you fall short in the activity field.

Renee, I am afraid there's no missing this storm, it's coming down from the north and we are right in its path. I'd like to think it wouldn't get down this far, but I doubt that will happen. You will be caught in it too, Oma, and no doubt it's already arrived at Larry's house. Jill, I'm thinking you will get more snow where you are, I believe I'm slated for ice.

Y'all be careful and stay warm and safe.

Everyone, I'm so sorry about your bad weather. I don't watch TV so other than checking local weather on the internet, the only way I keep up is from your posts. Oh, and reports from my mother and daughter, both in MI. It has been such a rough winter!

Sharon, I hope you don't even have to deal with limbs from the tree.

Stay safe everyone.

Thinking of all of you in the path of the latest storm. We have about six inches right now and counting. The wind is picking up. Unfortunately, that means we weren't able to travel to Cedar Rapids for the Orchestra Iowa concert tonight. We called Robin (our daughter who lives there) to see if she and a friend might be interested in using our tickets. We told her not to go if if the roads got bad. She called before supper to say she was staying home. She has started shoveling her somewhat long driveway even though it hasn't stopped snowing. She has to be at work tomorrow at 6 AM. Thumbs down

Hope Robin has no problems getting to work.

Thanks Lucy, I think I've thought of everything; I went out for more candles and cat food today, I think Sunshine and I are pretty well covered unless the limbs decide to play pick up stix!

It's a scant 1 degree here and about an inch of snow or just a bit more has fallen. It's so cold the snow is like dust and blowing hard. The drifts will be impressive but without the substance that heavy wet snow can have. We'll just have to see how things look in the morning. Just about 50 miles south of here they have had a layer of ice under their snow and another layer of sleet for good measure. We missed all that and I'm glad of it.

I've had the most wonderful day watching the birds in the yard today. They knew a storm was brewing and were gathering like it was their last meal. Lots of birds and lots of interactions. I'll get out bright and early and refill their feeders tomorrow because the snow will have all the feed covered by morning. They are such good company on cold grey days. My husband laughs every time he hears me calling out "fight! fight!" as they argue. The Flickers and Woodpeckers always win the arguments, but the Blue Jays have yet to figure it out and keep trying to bully them like they do everyone else. What fun! Oma - Considering your health, you've done a TON. Today was one of the laziest days I've had in a long long time. But, my leg's killing me to the point that I'm almost back to where I was a year ago. No one is willing to chop it off, though. I've tried. And I figure that, with the size of the leg & the amount of muscle on it, it would make one heck of a ham!!

On a plus note, I picked up my white Silkie chicks on Friday. They're sooooo cute!!! And so TEENY!! OMG are they teeny!! I got 4 of them, but one wouldn't cooperate in me taking his/her picture. They're straight runs, so I don't know if they're roos or pullets yet.

We got less than a dusting of snow in this storm, but it's pretty cold. I think the high for the day was like 14degs. I slept most of the day.. took too many drugs (1 "soma" & 1 percoset) but it didn't really help a heck of a lot. I have no idea what triggered my sciatica attack this time.. I'm thinking that it was the fact that I wore some shoes I shouldn't be wearing while working in the garage in the cold.. then sitting in my chair at work which was very very very lopsided..
Never be afraid of a scar. It just means that you were stronger than something that tried to hurt you.

Awww! what cute chickies!! I especially like the photo of the one with all of it's feet toward the camera. I'll bet you are right about the backache being from the shoes and sitting in an awkward position. Sometimes it doesn't take much. I hope you are feeling better by the time you read this. Can you do anything about the chair? Maybe if you made noises about a worker's comp claim, your boss would replace it?

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Our big storm has fizzled to a two to three inch snow and not much more on the way. I'm very happy it has. It's still very cold and the wind is brutal. I hope the fizzle continues on east of us and it just blows itself out without damage to any of you.

The birds are eager for more food this morning to help them generate enough heat for the day. They are such amazing little creatures. I can't imaging walking around all winter in bare feet!

Well, now I can just see Jill's birds wearing boots.

Rain rain rain, the actual storm won't be here till mid afternoon, so I guess we'll see. The rain isn't heavy but it's rained most of the night and Sunshine took one look at the muddy mess, raised one paw, then looked at me as if to say, "you really think I'm going to do much of anything in this rain? '

At last she took the two steps down to the yard, but that's as far as she would go.
Y'all stay warm and safe today. Glad the worst is over for you, Jill.

Oliver just stopped by the computer to groom me. Licks and "flea bites." Happens several times a day. Afterwards he puts his head in my lap and says. "My turn!" He ate another cake last night. Wilma had left it on the counter and forgot to put it somewhere where Oliver can't reach it. Yesterday he barfed up a large piece of gravel. Never a dull moment! Big Grin

Cute chicks, Toni. My first pet was a dyed Easter chick. Anyone remember those? I named her Mickey. Whenever I let her out of her pen, she would follow me wherever I went. Hope your pain subsides soon.

Liked your bird tale, Oma. Unfortunately, English sparrows have made a comeback in our area. They swoop in in flocks and gobble up all the food.

How much snow up there, Larry? Sunshine gets on the grooming kick too about once a day.
