Like Sunshine, I had a nap this afternoon. We golden girls (even if now grey) know what to do. 16° with sunshine so I think a tiny bit of melting. I still won't go outside today. John has been & paid attention to the drainage ditch around the side of the garage as it is supposed to go up to 33° tomorrow. I hope it encourages bits of our snow to melt.

Odd story about that quilt. I used to do displays for a little consignment shop here in town, the owner was a friend of mine. She sold the shop when her husband retired and they moved back to their hometown. The people who bought the shop knew nothing about running a business and it quickly went downhill. They called me one day after about a year and told me there were some things they were tossing and asked if I'd run up and make sure none of it belonged to me or to the former owner. The shop is just a couple of blocks from my house, so I went up there one afternoon.

None of it was mine or my friends but already laying in a mess beside the dumpster that was mostly filled with real junky trash was a very large clear plastic bag that looked to have scraps of fabric in it. Lots of fabric. She dragged it over to my car as I was leaving and said since I sewed I might be able to find some usable fabric in that bag and to just take it to get it out of the parking lot. Otherwise, it was going into the dumpster right then. So I did and a few days later remembered it was in the trunk of my car.

I opened that plastic bag up and in it were two quilts ,the one you see that Sunshine has claimed and another that is just a plain block quilt that somebody hand made from scraps. There was also a table cloth or two and a well worn bed sheet, things like that. I tossed the trashy stuff, but the star quilt that Sunshine has still had pricing on it and it had never been unfolded from the cardboard piece it was wrapped around. It was commercially made and is queen sized, not hand made. The other one is smaller and older but still a nice pad or throw if I need one. So I kept them both for now. Sunshine likes the star quilt, not sure what it is about it but she will sleep on it whenever she has a choice of places or things to sleep on.

If she ever decides to get down from it I'll get a picture for you. Big Grin

What a cool story on the quilt and I'm so glad you got it. It's beautiful.

They have upgraded our snowfall to 4 to 6 inches, arriving tomorrow night.

I'm not even looking at my forecast. Nobody will clear the snow off my car nor around it... makes me so mad. Of course only one lane is cleared in this little subdivision but one lane would take me lots of places if I could just get the snow cleared away from the car. Doesn't help my mood a bit.

Don't know what's going on my a lot of my posts are missing...I posted a reply right away about the quilt and I'm just now seeing it's not there. Happened earlier today. Oh well, it's not like it was earth shattering reply or anything.

I'd love to see a picture of the quilt if Sunshine decides to let you.

They already cancelled Fairburn schools so no Jackson tomorrow because even though Kirsten could use the day to work on costumes and sets for her production of Shrek, the school won't be accessible. I'm thinking Miranda probably won't be coming either. I'll use the day to get tax info together and file all those papers I sorted a week or so ago.

Vic, I'm not sure, that might be a downgrade if they are increasing the predicted amount.

Great haul on the quilts, Sharon. And thanks for the new thread and the Worry forum!

There is your post , third one down, about the quilt and about not noticing the thread was so long. Is that it?? Maybe you just missed it.
I thought I had a picture of that quilt but I haven't found it. I'll have to wait for Sunshine ,but I'll get one soon as I can. Keyboard is skipping spaces again.

You know what would be interesting, Arlene? If this year you kept a sort of 'diary' of your market events from beginning to end. You could do that, start a thread of your own in the Blue Garden Groupings forum : http://cubits.org/bluegardens/forums/view/colorfulgardens/

I know people would like to read about it and it would be a good record for you from year to year.
Just something to think about it. When I was starting new threads today I happened to realize it would be a good place and a good time to start. I almost missed Toni's chicken thread but it's there too along with Mary's lamb stories and other features about different places.

Jill might also want to take her lambing adventures there too now that Mary is no longer birthing lambs. So interesting, all the things we get into.

Naw, there was another post that's not there. Nothing big.

I'll think about the market diary. A lot will depend on how tired I am.

True, but it would be such a good read for those of us who have to live with only dreams of things like that. And the dates that go along with the posts might also help keep a record for you.

Just a thought. I'm sure your writing time then is so limited.

and the beloved Winston the pug
Still alive, still cold, pipes still freezing...I adjusted my extension cords to have 2 heaters in the crawl space near the frozen pipes....and blew a fuse.

I have water in the laundry room and bathroom, but not the kitchen.

Winston is super grumpy - he gets grumpy when it gets this cold, especially during early morning and late night walks. I am not exactly a ray of sunshine.

It is 14'F right now, dipping below zero tonight. We will have single digit night time temperatures all week. We are getting more snow. Thank goodness for Pete and his snowplow! I am baking him Irish soda bread this time. (He doesn't get anything else in rubbermaid containers because he doesn't return them or he is still eating the brownies.)

Andi, hang in there! Spring is just around the corner although it is sometimes hard to believe. When might you be going on that exploratory trip?

Arlene, I am one who would certainly enjoy reading your garden/market thread. No pressure, just saying. Smiling

Another interesting possibility might be a thread from Andi about the things she makes, and how she does it.
