Hi, Everyone! Group hug

My first post in this Forum! It's probably better I keep my posts of vids & 'general' stuff about our part of Australia here, in this thread, so it's easier to follow .. and for me to find! *Blush*

I've discovered that everyone here on BG is diverse in garden interests, backgrounds & areas in which you live, but at the same time, everyone is alike .. I hope I can post something for everyone &, along the way, tell you something about myself & hubby, Murray, & where we live .. and other parts of Australia if I can.

In other posts you have here in BG Forums, I've seen some beautiful photos & I hope to learn about where you live, too!

To start my posts, I'll add this link of a short vid I made for a project we did .. amongst our first .. for an alternate use for the old clothesline, that we couldn't remove, in the yard when we first moved in some 6.5yrs ago. Enjoy!

So glad you started this thread, Dianne. I am running a few errands right now before it gets dark, so I'll watch your video when I return.

:) I actually managed to re-find it, too!
I thought 'A Little Corner' etc fitted well .. we are on a corner block, it's a little sanctuary & full of birdlife & some other creatures that 'moved in' as soon as we increased the original plantings & added some 'gums' etc. Actually, it's a sort of an 'island' here with a laneway on the other side of the boundary .. funnily enough called Forest Lane .. & we back onto our only direct neighbour.
Our poor 'paddock' doesn't feature much in any of my vids .. I'll have to fix that as the 'gums' are quite tall now .. but I'll wait until it gets another mowing! :)
Enjoy the vid .. another coming soon ..

'A Little Corner of Down Under' #2

Not even the corners of our sunroom escape 'filling in' with something!

Here is a video I did for my Mum, who loved Zygocactus (schlumbergera) of any colour.
They flowered very early in 2013, in May & nearly all together for once .. surprised me very much. So I decided to do this video for my Mum's birthday that year, which was in May co-inciding with Mother's Day that year. She was turning 83yrs.
Both parents had been in a Nursing Home for a few yrs by then & Mum was slipping away with dementia a little bit more every day ..

Even though I took it with me on a disc & with a portable player, I doubt she really 'saw' it, or understood what it was. She definitely heard the music .. tapping her fingers & feet to the music of 'Music Box Dancer' ..

Sadly, she passed away that same year in early October. The zygos flowering early hasn't happened since .. they've sort of stuck to later when it's colder.
It doesn't make me sad to play it, as reminds me of her & her love for not only zygos but gardens in general .. an inherited trait I guess from her English mother & father, both with some Welsh background.

I'm happy to share this & hope you enjoy it, as I'd hoped she would. Some photos have been digitally edited for a bit of 'arty' fun!

TY, Sharon! Yes it is .. and has nothing but 'majestic' thorns to protect those gorgeous blooms!

Thank you, Vic! We are firm believers in 're-use, re-cycle or re-purpose' where ever possible. There is so much waste in the World now .. where did all the 'Great Depression' ingenuity go to? It's such a 'disposable' style of living in many places now .. such a shame when 'something new out of something old' is nearly always possible ..

Nearly all our garden waste is recycled, even bigger parts of branches that may be trimmed or break off .. we often joke about being our own tip! lol

A big surprise about the sunroom, but bet it is beautiful when they are all blooming.
