Pancreatitis can be caused by a lot of things, sometimes a combination of things and it's truly miserable. I had it once and of all things it was followed by mono. Years ago but I remember the misery.

I'm glad you caught it early Larry and so glad you are resting with the Tramadol. That's my prescription now for inflammation in my lower back and it does help a lot. I don't think you should take any aspirin right now either, it could trigger another attack of extra enzymes in the pancreas . . . which I think is the problem. I am glad to hear about Wilma, and so sad for Stan and Bonnie. But right now you need to take care of yourself first for a change. So does Wilma. Group hug

Larry, as if you didn't already have more than enough medical problems in your family! Liquid diet and sleep, lots of sleep. I hope that Wilma finds that Stan is confused about the stent not working for Bonnie.

We have had some light rain this afternoon! What a surprise! I stood with the window open and just listened to the patter of it on the roof. I hope it rained more on the fire. Heat from the flames would cause it to evaporate, but the dampening of combustibles around it will slow the progress down. The governor has made another conflagration declaration to have the state fire marshall call in structure protection teams from across the state to protect 275 homes. The first ones should be on the job already.

My first fermentation project will probably get started tomorrow after I am home from the co-op and have a while to rest. It's going to be sauerkraut. Today I prepared all of the homegrown pears and salvaged apples for a batch of pear and apple butter. I'm tired of standing. Patch gets the trimmings and peels.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

Larry - I feel for you!! Docs were worried that what was causing my pain.. They weren't 100% sure if it was gall stones or pancreatitis until they did the ultrasound. But gut pain is miserable!!! And I hope that Stan has others to depend on with bonnie back in the hospital... He's going to need as much support as he can get!

Mary - *jealous on rain!!* we're under fire danger warnings again.. We're down almost half our precip for the year. All those beautiful rains we had this spring helped, but its been so hot this summer that everything's suffering.

Arlene - bad doctor!! Better to err on the side of caution than to belittle a patient!! Omg!

well, I hate to even post what with everyone else's problems. but I will, cause I need prayers for Snowcone.

He has been just laying around for the last couple of days and when he continued that today, we took him to the vet.

She did bloodwork and everything was OK. But after we brought him home, he became so lethargic, I thought he was dying before my eyes., He just laid there, barely breathing, his feet felt cold, I called the vet again, and we ended up taking him back in. They gave him fluids, an antibiotic shot, and an oral antibiotic. His temp was 106. There is a fatal tick disease going around down here, that I pray he doesn't have. It is cytauxzoonosis. It is usually fatal. Crying

I feel kind of lost. Snowcone was the last kitty I thought would get something like this.

again my fault for not putting the tick preventative on him this year.

The difference between Dr.s is frightful. I like the ones I have now. The 'primary care' chap who had to retire was not one of my favorites, but he was ok. Poor man had shoulder replacement surgery on both of those, one a repeat so perhaps he had other things on his mind. However his replace ment is nice even though a younger chap. Best wishes to all people with physical troubles.

Sharon wrote:make a mistake. Every time I go in they ask me for a list of my meds or to see all my medicine bottles and I tell them that they have a list in their records and that nothing has changed and that I don't carry that many medicine bottles in my purse. They tell me that they are supposed to receive a list or the bottles every time I come in to the office. I tell them to make a copy of my list instead because I don't carry my med bottles with me, only the nitro. Happens every time and the earth hasn't come to a halt yet as they act like it might do.

I am not making a list and I'm not taking the bottles in with me. I'll watch for signs of the strokes they will probably have.

I agree Sharon, I absolutely agree with you. It really bothers me when I have to answer the same questions over and over, having to tell my health history when they have it all in the computer.
I am beginning to think they are too lazy to hit the keys and find the info.

Snowcone is so beautiful and you take the very best pictures, Susan. I know how you are hurting and we all hurt with you. It's been a bad year for so many of our pets. When I lost Jazz Cat I couldn't believe it, never thought he'd ever be sick and he never had been till then. It hasn't been a year yet and I still notice Sunshine staring at my closet, as if waiting for Jazz to walk out with his tail like a plume in the air. I know how Sunshine misses him too. Daisy is in a world of her very own, and she has Sunshine at her beck and call, so as long as she has SS, she never gives a thought to Jazz. She thought he was so annoying anyway and he did try to drive her crazy as often as he could.

Our pets affect all of us and when something is wrong and when we can't do a thing about it, it's the worst feeling. I hope this is just a temporary thing for Snowcone and I hope the antibiotics and fluids and a little more time will heal him. Of course we'll send prayers for him and for you.

I hope Andi is feeling better and that the toothache problem is over and gone. I worry when I don't hear anything for awhile. I am the world's greatest worrier and I'm very good at my job. Smiling

Larry, worried about you too. I hope you can rest easy tonight and I hope Wilma has good news about Bonnie. I am also really worried about Stan.

Lucy, are you having this beautiful weather that has landed in western KY this week? Amazing golden days and blue skies and totally no humidity. It feels like October but the trees are still lush and green. So pretty. The leaves glitter and dance in the breeze. I'm sitting here writing in my sleep. I do believe it is time for bed.

Y'all have a really good night and lets hope everything is better by morning.

Oma, you might be right. As Lucy says, I know they have to keep track of everything but all I ever need to tell them about is if my GP has made a change in anything. But this time I have to mention the Lisinopril and the Statin again, so there will be that to deal with. My legs hardly have the strength to walk right now so it's for sure I'm not going back on the statin anytime soon. And since I've not fallen off the deck nor fainted dead away since I stopped Lisinopril, it's pretty safe to say I won't go back to it either. I guess we'll see, but I think there should be other things I could take for BP issues that would work well with those I continue to take.

Here is the stained glass work Hank did. Both these were his first time and he even borrowed the tools from a friend.

For the front door, the glass was plain - it's very very thick - so he did the stencil and put our name below the stencil. He needed to buy acid to etch the glass and wasn't allowed to purchase it. Fortunately, I worked in a school and the science teacher was allowed to order it for us Thumbs up

Any of the beveled pieces you see were also bought at an architectural junkyard. The others he bought at a stained glass place in Columbus Ohio.

The is our french door that goes to back deck.

The is the front door and sidelights. Hank is more a wood person than glass person so he made all the trim around both.

Vic - Words cannot completely convey my awe & I definitely need a lobster bib to absorb the drool.. not to mention I've turned a rather unattractive shade of green of envy! I guess that only 2 words can completely describe what I see:

ROAD TRIP! (to Whistling Whistling Whistling "admire" those doors.. wonder what the dimensions are.. would they fit on my frames??? Whistling Whistling Whistling )

Just saw this article in the newspaper.. yea, this describes it pretty well.

http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_28813323/metro-denver-tree...
Dave Paricio, a 40-year arborist, is swamped performing house calls for sick, dying trees in the Denver area.

"It really has been the strangest year I've seen in all my time evaluating trees," said Paricio, who is a certified arborist and the assistant district manager of Davey Tree Service in east Denver.

Bark is peeling off. Pine needles and leaves are browning and falling to the ground early. Many trees never produced leaves or fruit. And some trees that are beyond repair are getting the ax altogether.

The root of the problem, according to experts: a sudden, intense temperature drop in November 2014 that damaged trees' cores before they were winter-ready.

In the early fall of 2014, temperatures were as warm as 80 degrees, lulling the trees into a false sense of season, said Colorado State University extension specialist Tamla Blunt.

Then on Nov. 10, the Front Range received a chilling shock when temperatures plummeted from 58 degrees at 8 a.m. to 16 degrees by 11 p.m., Blunt said. Temperatures stayed frigid for nearly a week, chilling trees and people alike to the core.

At the time, the trees were not finished with the hardening process that enables them to withstand winter weather, Blunt explained. Many were instantly flash-frozen, and some would not show signs of damage until spring.

Cherry trees, elms, maples, willows, evergreens and more are now left battling the wounds they received in the 2014 freeze.

Of the 2.2 million trees in the city, Denver forester Rob Davis estimates that tens of thousands are dead from the November frost.

"We've got more trees to cut down in Denver, which doesn't help our mission," Davis said. "And we've got a lot of trees to replace, which is a big challenge and a resource-sensitive operation."

Just as the trees were starting to recover, Davis said, a freeze on Mother's Day hit them while they were down.

"It's like dipping into your savings account," Davis said. "If it happens too much, it can be dwindled down, and then all of a sudden you're left with nothing. It's more of a 'death by a thousand cuts' situation."

I know I lost my Krauter purple plum tree.. it's dead as a doornail. :( I ended up giving away the Hotwings maple.. it would not hold together and kept falling over & blocking my walkway because of the split. I put 2 rings on it to hold it together, but it just refused to cooperate. It was healthy, just not in the shape I wanted. Removing that tree really opened up that area of my yard, anyways. I need to check on the other trees.. I know that they survived the winter, but with me neglecting my yard because of yuck..

Speaking of yuck..

Larry - Please check in when you can.. we all worry about you & Wilma being overwhelmed with family health issues and with you having pancreatitis.. but please do rest!

Oma - Hoping that your eyes are cooperating with you and you're able to see clearly! The weather's should be cooling down for you, so hopefully you'll be able to go outside & enjoy some outsideness before winter shows it's cold face..

Susan - How is Snowcone? *worried* Is there *any* treatment for this tick disease?

Andi - Hope things are OK on your side... haven't heard from you, please be aware that we all love you & want to make sure that you're doing OK.

Sharon - Ugh on nasty nurses.. bleh bleh bleh.. not fun at all! I'm quite sure they'll finally realize that they can get a lot more accomplished by being nice than Nasty Nellies..

Arlene - Are you still doing the farmers market? It's almost 100% winding down here.. very short season because of our super late snow really put a huge crimp on the ag business this year here...

Mary - Hope you got more rain! These are the clouds overhead this morning here.. we got a major cold front in this morning and the mountains are so pretty with the cold clouds on them.. can actually SEE the mountains today as the smoke was all blown away..
