Well now, that woke me right up, Toni! Thanks for the delicious link. Ashley has been looking at wedding things and chocolate wedding cakes is one of them. On the other hand she wants navy blue and gold as her colors and I think if she goes with chocolate, it will have to be iced in white. Brown and navy don't exactly go hand in hand,

It's a gorgeous day, deep blue sky, little gentle breeze, no humidity and not quite 70* yet.

Me too, Lucy about the meds. These two nurses have never worn a name tag. And there's never any kind of conversation, just yes or no from me in answer to their questions. I try deliberately to make a mistake. Every time I go in they ask me for a list of my meds or to see all my medicine bottles and I tell them that they have a list in their records and that nothing has changed and that I don't carry that many medicine bottles in my purse. They tell me that they are supposed to receive a list or the bottles every time I come in to the office. I tell them to make a copy of my list instead because I don't carry my med bottles with me, only the nitro. Happens every time and the earth hasn't come to a halt yet as they act like it might do.

But this time I can say that I've dropped one med completely and another I only take when my b/p is high and then only a half dose. I wonder if that will make life miserable for them. That should also be in my records because it was his NP who suggested that I do the change with the second med; she did it right there in the office during my last visit. I am not making a list and I'm not taking the bottles in with me. I'll watch for signs of the strokes they will probably have.

Sharon - Actually, I personally think that navy & brown would look wonderful together! But I can't say anything. At my "wedding" (John & I eloped), we didn't have anything as far as a reception or anything. No $. LOLL But that didn't matter to us. We were happy together, and that's what matters. We had a "renewal of vows" 6 months later, and we had the "reception" at our apartment where I served home-made brownies, cookies, & we had fruit punch for drinks. Again, no $.

Hmm.. seems to be a theme with me.. no $.

Sharon I keep a list & photo copy it if necessary. they now ask me if there are any changes since the entire thing is on computer. Since my meds come from 3 different Dr. regular, asthma & neuralogist (the gabapentin) there is method to their madness.

Flying by....

We've been visiting with friends up at the TN/KY border. SO beautiful up there. I think we were spitting distance from where Sharon was born and raised and I have some lovely photo's I'll post later.

I was reading but didn't have time to post....

Larry, I'm so sorry about Bonnie and am glad her husband is staying with her so hopefully they will keep an eye on him as well. LOVED the Amish tour - So freaking cool!

Mary, your stained glass work is beautiful and lovely. Hank enjoys doing it also. I'll post some photo's of his work sometime.

Lucy, I've taken your info down for next time we get down to Cowpens.

Toni, for me - everyday is chocolate day.

Gotta go unpack...

Lucy, same in my cardio office. They have paper records in my records folder, they have a current list in my records on computer but they tell me the have to have a new list from me every time, and I realize it is to coordinate anything that other doctors give me. But I only have the two doctors and my GP makes very sure my monthly checkup is faxed to the cardio guy every single month. Just aggravating.

Vic, it is a beautiful place you visited, and you're right, except for some mighty mountains to climb over, you were really close. I'd love to see pictures, Bet the layers of rocks that were cut into to build the road are still there with mountain water dripping down them and moss growing on the north side. I was always fascinated by the icicles 'taller than a house' that formed in winter. Homesick.

Welcome back home, Vic. It's fun to go but always nice to come back home. I would enjoy seeing some of Hank's stained glass projects. Do you have them hanging in your home? I have another one I might get hung up some day, it's done by the lead came method and was my first project. The last time it was hanging in a window was when we lived in Alaska.

The infrared fire map from last night shows that the fire near the organic orchard stayed out of that area and was driven south and east by the wind. There are still a lot of hot spots within a mile or two of the orchard. No reports of structures lost or any injuries. Present personnel on the fire is 160, with one heilicopter and 18 pumper trucks that carry a 2 man crew and 500 gallons of water. I'm sure those are working on those hot spots near human habitation. No word about additional evacuations or changes in status, probably meaning that the people at the orchard can stay home and be ready to leave if the level 3 order comes. Winds are much less today and the temperature is lower. The forecast says we might get to about 70 today. Certainly better for firefighting than what we had yesterday!

UPS just delivered my fermenting crock! Oh boy! Smiling

Thank you Mary - it's so good to be home! Hank has only done stain glass with our sidelights. On either side of the french doors and on either side of the front door. Our front door is from an architectural junkyard. It's a place where you can go to buy things liked newel posts, fireplace mantles, doors, baseboard, crown moulding, etc., that has been salvaged when one of those big old beautiful homes were torn down.

Now I want to see a picture of your crock Thumbs up

Vic - Beautiful! you look so happy there!! And those mountains look so different than my mountains here. More like rolling hills .. but soooooo very very lush! Drooling Drooling Drooling we NEVER get that kind of greenery or thick growth here like that... they must be SPECTACULAR in a few weeks when autumn starts to show itself. Although I will say right now, we've got the smokey mountains here... can't see them for the smoke in the air :( It's SUPER bad today.

This was the year I was going there in October, when the mountains are so covered in red and gold and rust and amber and dotted here and there with the dark green of old cedar trees and the occasional dead tree top with no leaves but turned to blackness from years of being held upright and in place by the live trees around it. Sometimes in those mountains the trees are so close together there is no place to fall, so you'll find dead trees just standing there like the exclamation point at the end of a sentence. The woodpeckers love those trees and so do the insects. Squirrels and owls often have nests in some of the hollow places.

One time I climbed very nearly to the top of one of those dead black hollow trees. I wasn't very big but it creaked and groaned when I neared the top and then began to slightly sway. I suddenly thought if that tree was hollow, the limbs might not hold me, the tree might break. First time I ever nearly panicked when I was up in a tree. I took me forever to very carefully climb down, I didn't tell a soul either.

I doubt that Sunshine and I will get to make that trip anytime soon, but maybe next year. I'm so glad you and your friend had such a good time. You look so happy.

Beautiful photos, Vic.

This morning I was diagnosed with pancreatitis. It's extremely painful. Came on during the night. Was grateful to get in to see my doctor, rather than having to go the emergency room route. I'm on tramadol which helps quite a bit with the pain. It also makes me sleepy, so I've been sleeping most of the day so far. Wilma, bless her heart, brought me a Dairy Queen shake on her way back home from Cedar Rapids. She had to go back for a second mammogram and, fortunately, no tumor or cyst.

I'm basically on a liquid diet. Absolutely no protein. The idea is to let the pancreas rest so that it can heal. On Friday I have to go back in to the lab to have another blood draw to see if my enzyme levels are returning to normal. Cases worse than mine require hospitalization, so that the patient can be fed intravenously. That way the pancreas can have total rest while it heals.

The phone just rang, and it's Stan. Back in a minute . . .

It was a very long and rambling conversation with lots of repetition and some confusion. The gist of it was that installing a stent in Bonnie's small intestine didn't work. Wilma will go to the hospital in the morning to visit and assess the situation.

Off to bed . . .

Oh Larry, I am so sorry to hear you are suffering. I hope the letting the panceras rest will help it all clear up. i don't know much about it, will have to look it up. Glad Wilma's second test came out negative. Such a load for you to carry. Rest up. I hope you feel better soon.

Hopefully Wilma can get more information about Bonnie's situation. When my brother was ill with cancer he had a blockage. That's when his doctor showed her true colors. When my mother called to tell her he couldn't keep anything down and she was going to take him to the hospital the doctor said, "You can't just take him to the hospital for every little thing." We were glad we took him in. His blockage finally did pass and he was able to come home but he was very out of it for awhile.
