I'm glad I didn't have a roof decoration too. Poor little guy, he was cold I could tell, kept his furry hat on his head the whole time he was installing the receiver and while the programs all loaded and while he explained everything to me. That took another hour. Of course I have no idea what he said, but I have a book if I ever want to learn. The silly thing now tells me I have mail. Whoever heard of mail on a TV. I have no idea how to open it and I get enough mail without one more.

This has been the coldest I've felt here in years. Might be because I'm outside more with Sunshine, but I think it really has been unusually cold for a longer time. Sunshine's last walk is at about 10:30 or 11 and she's good then till about 9 a.m. So I don't get the wee hours of the morning chill, thank goodness. She usually waits till I have a cup of coffee in my hand, which makes it even better.

So you all stay warm. The next few days will be so cold, I hope all your heat sources are working well, don't want any of you to wake up freezing. I remember staying some winter nights with my great grandmother who lived in a log home. I slept in the big room in the attic which wasn't used often since her children had mostly moved away and I was the closest of the grands or the great grands. It was fairly warm because the fireplace was in the room below and also the chimney ran up through that room and the bed was close to it. But there were chinks out of the mud/clay mix between the logs and in summer it was great to see the moon through them. Winter, though, brought snow through those little cracks and I would wake up sometimes from snow flurries blowing in on my face.

I slept on two feather beds, like huge pillows if you don't know what I'm talking about, so I was sunk in pretty deep and quite warm really with lots of quilts and somebody's old rough green army blanket over me. No chance of freezing, but I do remember waking up to snow flurries on my face sometimes. I guess Gramma was too old to worry about the cracks between the logs, or too old to do anything about it. And I never complained, I just thought it was part of life and great fun to sleep with snowflakes falling on my face.

Y'all sleep warm.
