| We are under a Winter Storm Warning. This what they are saying: * Timing... a mix of freezing rain and sleet will begin this evening changing over to a mix of sleet and snow late tonight... before changing over to all snow by midday on Sunday. * Accumulations... snow and sleet accumulation of 7 to 10 inches... along with a light glazing of ice. * Winds... north 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph  I was planning to go see my mother today - she lives about two hours away. I am due to get the snow/ice mix earlier than Kansas City, which is where this forecast is timed for - so I've postponed my visit until next weekend. I'm not much interested in driving home in sleet/ice/snow mix.  My husband is working today and will be driving home at midnight. If it's really bad he will check into a motel and stay put until the snow plows have a chance to clear a path. I'm staying put - I have lots of logs for the fire and I'm stocked up on food, so I have no obligations until Monday morning. And I have vacation time for that if it's still ugly! Weather here next weekend is expected to be in the 50s and much much nicer. I usually stop on the way to my Mom's house to pick up one of my children or a mix of children and grandchildren and drag them along with me. They are most helpful with the little "honeydew" jobs that Mom saves up between visits. Besides, they need to see my Mom too now and then! Fortunately, all three of my kids live between my farm and my Mom's place - so they are easy to include.  It's 16 degrees here now and lots of wind. I hear we 'll be breaking records for cold temps Sunday and Monday. Great - just great!  You all stay safe and warm! |
