This movie is an Oscar nominee in the documentary category and I must say, it deserves it. It's all about street art, aka graffiti, and the artists who make it. Or at least that what you'll think it's about. It was fascinating. You can download it for instant viewing from Netflix.

Once you see it, google the title and read the articles that come up. It's like a big mystery.

Once you see it, google the title and read the articles that come up. It's like a big mystery. Seems you can create great entertainment by poking the pretentious art 'establishment'. Hilarious! But don't read anything before you see the movie; it might spoil your fun.

The critics are all astir, wondering if Banksy will attend the Oscars - or reveal himself - if the movie wins. I hope you did enjoy it a bit. Smiling

So do you think Banksy is really Mr. Brainwash? I was telling a 20-something coworker about the movie, he was freaking out because he gets daily e-mails from Mr. Braniwash. He doesn't remember how he got signed up for them, but he ended up buying 2 posters. his young wife would only let him hang one, so he gave me the other one.

So now what am I going to do with a Charlie Chaplin poster that has a pink heart spray painted on it?

I hadn't really thought about Banksy being Mr. Brainwash IDK.

MBW is Thierry Guetta for sure. http://boingboing.net/2011/01/26/thierry-guetta-aka-m.html What's the old saw about an enigma in a riddle in a mystery (I'm sure I've messed that up); this is a good example. I do think Banksy is having the last laugh, though. If he does show at the Oscars, will he be in disguise and "accept the award for Banksy"? Hilarious!

MBW is definitely Thierry, but is Thierry Banksy also? That is the mystery wrapped in an enigma. Personally, I think he'll be a no-show.

Sheri, this is the one I inherited.

I see what you mean now. I don't think Theirry is Banksy at all, though.

Well yeah, the style is way different. I didn't think of that. (( shame on me ~ I'm married to an artist! ))

But like you said, if you google that movie, there's a lot of discussion about who Banksy is.

I'd auction it off on e-bay or craigslist. There's sure to be a sucker, er... art afficianado (sp?) out there somewhere. Whistling

Just watched. Yes it was interesting. I am glad we had a heads up to consider it being a spoof, or real, or some of each.

The mystery continues. It sure gave me an open eye to street art, though. I pay more attention to graffiti after seeing that.
