|I've been watching this on The Science Channel. Has anyone ever seen it? I hesitated, wondering whether to put it under documentaries or comedy. Here's a little synopsis from The Science Channel:
Ricky Gervais calls An Idiot Abroad, "The most expensive practical joke I've ever done." Ricky and longtime friend Stephen Merchant are sending their uncultured colleague, Karl Pilkington to visit the 7 Wonders of the World. Will it open his eyes or will he hate every second?
The stuff that comes out of Karl's mouth is hysterical. In one episode, they sent him to see The Great Wall of China. He was in a street marketplace where they sold food, and was commenting on how gross it was watching people eat different delicacies, bugs, scorpions etc.. and commented (sic) "How can they eat that stuff? When does the line end when eating a bug? If that girl sees a spider in her apartment, does she try to kill it as a bug.. or think about frying it up for lunch? But here I sit eating 'funyons', so who is the weird one here?"
It gives you a look into the actual culture of some of these places they send him, as opposed to the travel flyer version. And it's funny.
|Sounds interesting. I'll have to watch for it. NetFlix doesn't have it|
