I never watched the old Doctor Who shows in the 70s or 80s, but about a year ago started watching the show that started in 2005. BBCA has it on every afternoon.
I just love it and recently bought all the DVDs.

About a Time Lord, an alien that looks like a human (but has 2 hearts), who travels through space and time in a Tardis, which looks like a police phone box from the 1950s. He usually has a human (British) companion along with him and they get into all sorts of adventures.

Susan, I've seen 70s and 80s Doctor Who many times, and I'd highly recommend it! (Beware the cheesiness of the 80s though... Hilarious! )
When my Mom was a teenager she recorded dozens of them from the television onto video cassettes, and she still has some of them. They're really good! My personal favorite Doctor is the 5th, portrayed by Peter Davison from 1982 to '84. I've only seen a few bits and pieces of the newer ones. They look pretty good too.
Sometimes I fall asleep playing dead.
